Spring is not in the air because it snowed like crazy. However, CCP Dolan has paid us some attention. All of the CSM threads where made into sticky threads in Jita Park Speakers Corner. He then created a new section of the forum for CSM candidacy threads and moved all of the posts there. He has also posted that the rules for this years elections will be out soon.
Last year the elections were a two part process. The preliminary election was to narrow down the field to twenty four candidates. There was a registration form that had to be sent to CCP along with a scanned image of your passport. CCP then did some basics checks to make sure people qualified for the CSM (things such as ban history came into play). People then voted for an elimination round. The twenty four left were the candidates who went on the actual election. I am interested to see what they gathered from that method last year and what they will do this year.
This last week marked my third podcast interview. Tyrant Scorn is making time to interview every Candidate for his Legacy of a Capsuleer Podcast. Go listen on Youtube or as a MP3! I’m starting to relax and have fun just talking about Eve. It’s been a fantastic experience. I’ve also had an uptick of player questions. People mail me to chat and see what my opinions are on things and interview me to see if I align with how they see the game. It is very interesting and exciting with a lot of fantastic ideas and information being shared with me.
To handle the information I’ve set up a Google document folder. I then write notes as I talk with people or I copy Eve Mails into it. I can then hand the other person the link and they can check that I captured their idea properly. That way they can correct me, anything that may have missed, or flesh out an idea. It is something that I am still working with but it has a lot of potential to keep information organized, clear, and properly credited.
An interesting side event is the people that are cropping up who offer to vote for me for ISK or assets. This often happens in local or and public chat rooms. I have yet to have someone mail or direct message me and suggest that I pay them or give them something for a vote. That isn’t how I operate. I offer to talk if they want to talk or hand out links if they want links. Regardless of the outcome, people have been reminded about the election and hopefully they will vote for someone when that time comes around.
On the thread of meeting people, there is a MD/VA/DC meetup happening later this month. I have not yet gone to a local event so I am rather excited to attend. It also reminds me that Eve Vegas also has a contract now and dates should be announced for this years event. I’m planning to be there.
And that wraps up week three!

Do you scan using probes much? Do you hate the z-arrow movement as much as I do? Can I bribe you to agitate CCP to get rid of it when you are inevitably elected to the CSM?
ReplyDeleteInteresting. No one has offered to sell me their votes yet, I wonder if that's a bad sign :S
ReplyDeleteAs far as I can tell, both of you ave legitimate candidates, you don't need to buy votes :) Besides vote selling is such as scam anyway. Give me a gazillion isk, I'll triple your votes!
DeleteLooking forward to the local event, the last 2 were quite a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteGood. Hopefully you will have a cyno over the table for me to warp to.
