2 billion isk

Actually its a bit over that. I got my cut for the plex run and the ridiculously expensive, blingtastic mod that was sold. It sky rockted me over my 2bil point and settled me neatly on path for 3. I'm sure I'll get tired of counting up at some point. Screen shot or it didn't happen. Just sitting 2mil under 2.5bil. Why don't I keep stuff? Why should I? I don't have the skills to use it or keep it. I use cheap things because I am ultra squishy. I will find more later or but them at another time. I don't need to hoard it for a possible future. After my third move, I realized that hoarding is irritating. My myrm may be locked in low sec however. I can get it back out one morning but one side of me is kinda asking why. If I can do some plexes in it, as I did the other day, it would be more useful to me in low then in high. Plus, it is PvP/PvE fit. How my desires are changing. The taste that I have for the game now is oh so different a

Goal kinda technically met

This morning, instead of logging off I got convinced to drag my Myrm through low sec just after downtime by my newest corp mate to do a DED site with him. It was a 4/10. Frankly, I'm still fuzzy about what that means but its something about how hard it is and what may drop inside of it. I'll look it up later when I have more time. Anyway, I got invited along and with my shield fit battle myrm of non-rawr power helped him work on the site. The site beat us up a bit. Finally, I got some armor repair drones and did the baby logi thing on my corp mate. Of course, he is a -10 so I got GCCed for repping him. Thanks CCP. I can't even rep a flashy red corp mate without getting GCC but I corp members in high sec can kill each other and not get flagged. So sensible. We wound up with: Gistum C-Type 10mn afterburner - Sells for 100 mil Gistum C-Type Kinetic Deflection Amplifier - 10 mil Gistum A-Type Invulnerability Field - Sells for about 950 mil 8th Tier Ov

Not quite making that goal

It looks like I am going to stall out and not quite make my 2b isk mark for my 3 month birthday. Technically, if I can do it on Wednesday it will still count but I'm not crossing my fingers. I spent most of the evening out in null having my battleships precarved for me to work on my sector status. The good news is that after about 6 hours of work, my sec status is up to a -2.98 from a -3.48. The gains blow. It is good money, the null ratting. However, I am currently about 90 mil short. I'm tempted to burn LP for cash thou so who knows what I will do when I get up tomorrow. I just spent about 30mil implanting my pewpew alt with some damage implants to help her poor, poor showing of abilities. I do remember that I actually have some salvage to sell from doing the null sec ratting. I don't have as much as I'd like to have due to the fact that my cargo hold is only about 300m3 and 1/3 of that is normally filled with ammo. Its a few mill worth but not enough to

Sec Status

The weekends roaming dropped my security status down to a -3.47. This was just high enough to allow me into .06 space but that was about it. 'Ratting aka killing NPC Pirates is the bane of a low sec pvper's life. In null you don't take sector hits for PVP. Sector hits define two things. 1: If you can go into High Sec (people say why go but really, its useful). 2: If people get GCC for shooting you. After you hit -5 you are an 'outlaw' and no one takes a sector hit for shooting you. However, logis take a sector hit for repping you. The gain vs lose is ridiculous and a huge moaning point. High sec people are like 'you deserve it!' but they seem to forget that null does not lead to sec hits so its not keeping anyone out. Plus, the best sector status gain is in null sec. So nullsec, where there is no Concord control and no 'empire' space has the best way to improve sector gain because it has the biggest bounties and biggest sector

Clearing out Pirates

So, my area I hang out in is Molden Heath. Today, while browsing the forums looking for a particular post I read about a week ago I came across this: Call for Mercenary Swarm for Molden Heath . Of course I read it. Then I started to giggle. Then I was even more amused when I realized that technically, I'm one of the people he wants cleaned out. In the end, his idea of a lot of isk and a merc corps idea of a lot of isk were two different things. There was another rofl post called Anti-Pirate Patrols Suppressing Pirate Activities . It seems no one checks the kill boards of the pirate corps they call out. <P. The eve online boards are hysterical sometimes. There is info to be found but it may take a while.

Blog Name Change

I originally started writing at The Walrus Bucket . I decided to change for a few reasons. One was that this would be easier to search. Two was that the name now fit me a bit more for Eve vs just being something random. The original blog idea was back when I had first joined AVKP and was going to help recruit. It was going to function as a corp webpage. However, I wasn't getting much material to write about from a mining corp that sometimes missioned. I was mostly writing about our missions and such. However, since I made it two weeks in AVKP I decided to write for myself. I'm not as obsessed with the walrus bucket saga as I seem to be. I do think its adorable and it fit my early, harmless incarnation of Eve playing when I was going to be the best high sec carebear ever. However, those plans shattered and fell away. I'm amused as I look at the pictures I used to take and the pictures I take now. Early image of Vexor mining, because that is what I did with

Lootin' all the wrecks errry day

Tonight's 100 jump roam took just under 4 hours. It was a good time and I got in on 7 kills (I'm amused at how little damage I do) and got a cargo hold full of loot. Because I have to get close to people I am normally close enough to scoop the lot and often I get to keep it. :D Ahh loot. So, very very sweet. Anyway, the goal was an armor fleet. So we shipped up and decided to head to a new area. That area was 50 jumps away. I learned a lot today. Armor fleets are not supposed to chase nano fleets and nano fleets run away very, very fast and do not expect to be chased by said armor fleet. Also, lag sucks. Very early in, we jumped into another fleet. There was a cool moment when they jumped to us and then went through a gate and we followed and started to lay into everyone. I had a moment of confusion. As we were ordered to jump the fleet commander (FC) says to spread the points (meaning lock down as many targets as we can). So I wind up attached to a h

isk Isk ISk ISK

Everyone goes on and on about ISK running Eve. Well it does. It does to the point that I watched a heated conversation go on comparing mining and missioning and isk making on Eve to minimum wage USA employment and why buying a PLEX is better then earning ISK from the game. I giggle. I don't think that I am talented at making ISK. I am just determined and it is one of my primary focuses on the game. I do things with the exact purpose of making ISK. I had a conversation with a nice guy about how he wanted a Caldari Navy Hookbill and how I didn't think he needed to get one yet since he had been playing for about two weeks and a half weeks. He got himself a PLEX about two days ago and he is now itching to spend that ISK. It is shiny and he wants to feel cool in a nice ship. I told him that it pretty much painted a target on his head. Gankers in Eve often kill shiny ships just because they are expensive and shiny. The funny thing is that although you earn a PLEX

Popped but Revenged

I got popped on a gate. I jumped into the system and fucked my warp up like nothing else. I watched as a broadsword consumed my super fragile nano fit thrasher . Remembering gate camp 101 with my corp I tried to make it back to the gate but I exploded first. I was able to warp off in my pod however and get that safe. I felt bad. My ship wasn't really fit very well but at least it was fit. It only had t1 mods on it and there where no rigs so the total value was not even a million isk. It was very similar to the way I managed to die the last time. Only, I got my pod out this time. So I announced it to the corp and apologized. It was cool. I'm the one that felt awful. However, I had a level 5 mission to salvage before we went out on a roam. As I often rant/lament about listening to people discuss mission running is like listening to religions collide. Level 5 missions came up and one person was discussion how you need about a dozen ships and multiple logies. An

I got called a troll and blocked

I wish I had started saving the conversation earlier, but I did not expect it to morph into such a dramatic reaction. The conversation started when this person entered the chat and asked someone to give them a charity donation of 10mil isk and they would pay back 12mil isk next week. So, being me (and the rules of the channel being no begging) I said, "That sounds more like a contract then a donation". He responded, "Either or." So I ignored him for a bit. I was pulling loot out of low sec so I was busy. I looked back and say this: Monarch Rotineque > I went though the past 12 years of mmo's(and I believe the last 7 with EVE on top mmo list) without even thinking about EVE, and now im absolutely hooked :D And being me I had to ask more. Sugar Kyle > do you beg for isk/gold/coins/whatever the first time you log onto any MMO Monarch? Monarch Rotineque > Sugar Kyle you mad bro? how much do you honestly think you know about me? and what ive done the pa

Scams and Eve

Eve Online allows in game scaming. This is something that a lot of MMOs do not allow. Because the developers are very hands off about the game, they have allowed the player base a larger free reign that you would normally see. The side effect is that these scams have reached such levels that they bring people onto the game out of sheer curiosity. I was one of those people. The thing about Eve is that most of the in game world is player created. You may be playing the game that CCP made, but when you deal with wars, gate camps, suicide gankers, and scams, your content is from other players. Scams on eve can be complex or artificial. Most rely on the scams victim to be greedy, stupid, or not paying attention. A lot of them rely on trust. Eve is not a 'safe' game. You will make friends and you will make good friends but sometimes those friends have no other goal then to destroy you. Perhaps, the biggest and best known is the fall of the Band of Brother's. A huge corp

Market Trading and "The Way" and instigation

I am not sure how much of a market trader I will become. I'm willing to do things like log in and do a 20 jump run to adjust a buy order that it not selling without thinking about it. Now, I could have done missions during that time. However, my profit was 10 mil for adjusting the buy orders. My mission profit would not have been nearly that if I had done level 3's during the same amount of time. The thing is that the market is self rewarding. My wallet flashes and I click on it and I have more isk. This is what drives me to continue to figure out ways to do sell orders. The reward is to much of a lure right now. Plus, it gives me a somewhat steady isk flow. I hate the long days when I barely earn anything. Image of me the other day going to sell salvage. While I was in my market run, a dude popped into the public channel I am in. I've seen him before but today he was all abuzz with how amazing he was. He has been playing for 5 months and he lives in null. He s

Making ISK

My goal was to reach 1.5 billion isk before I logged off. That was hindered a bit by my Myrm refit and the money that I had to drop on the rigs for it. I broke down, ate my pride and crawled to my pirate to ask him to give me a fit for my Myrm. What I had was not working out. As in, it was useless. So he sat down and took the time to build one and explain it out. I rebuilt it and I was surprised that I did not have any problems making anything fit. The only adjustments was that I added my drone augment link and my drone navigation link. These two links, I learned randomly one night are very useful. They make my drones better and faster. My drones are my DPS. Think pets in another game. So, when I gave my pirate the fit that I had created off of what he suggested he was pleased with my drone links and quizzed me on why. My reasons were approved of and I was happy. One of my friends asked me if I wanted to mission. Seems he doesn't like to mission solo either. So, we did

Roaming and game drama

People are great sometimes. I was out on a roam, my first one in quite a while. It seems that our group of seven was to large and blobish for people. At one point, we had two member's hang out in a belt as bait and the bait was taken. They were jumped by 5 ships. The rest of our group arrived and the five ships screamed blob at us. Now, they landed with a full load of battle cruisers. We were a mix of battle cruisers, logi, and me in my cruiser noobing it all up. We did land two oracle kills of which I got to loot one of. Looting other players feels weird but I've grown used to it. For one I grabbed all of his faction crystals and guns that dropped. I got to keep the stuff as well and it went into my hoard to sell for isk One thing I have learned is that faction crystals are horrible. I was so excited to get them and then found out I could not sell them because they were used. You can't sell broken items on the market and amarr high grade crystals a

Reclaim my game

After another epic fail attempt at missing, I raged about how much I suck and how frustrating it is. On calming down, I decided that my problem is that I am still trying to play like I was told I should be able to play by someone with a play style that does not work for me. This is my Myrm in all sorts of serious structure damage. My shields and armor regened while I was warping away. Everything was nicely red when I left. Therefore, I will try to complete the mission I mistakenly accepted. After that, I am done running security missions unless I am part of a fleet. Maybe next year when I have time to focus on some combat abilities. Once I have my Viator in hand, I will accept some contracts and see how that goes. I always liked the idea of transporting goods. Hopefully I don't lose a ton of money at it. I've read up on the scams and such and I plan to stick to moving peoples crap through high sec and maybe low but I don't see myself venturing into null fo

Mission are still not working out

Sleep did not suddenly make me kick ass it seems. My goal was to try some level 2 missions. They are easy enough and if I just keep doing them mindlessly they do build up after a while. My goal was more mission standings then isk. I thought I would be productive. So, when I immediately went and selected a level 3 mission instead of the level 2 at the same agent. Some stupid part of my said that I should give it a try. After all, it was not a blockade or angel extravaganza. I should be able to do it. Everyone says that a player of my age should be able to do it. Hell, I've been ridiculed for not being able to do level 3 security missions yet. I've been told that its easy. I've been told that it's rather pathetic that I can't do level 4 missions yet. I've had the easiness of them rubbed in my face over and over again. Everything involving PvE in Eve is easy according to just about everything I hear. The problem is not that the missions are hard but th

The market and me

ISK. I've mostly played fantasy based games and the in game currency was always gold or coins or something. There is Fallout, where currency is bottle caps, but I'll ignore that for now. Part of my game of Eve is my quest for ISK. I've said before that I just desire to be a ridiculously wealthy player for no other reason then the fact that I want to be. I don't want to PLEX my accounts. I don't want to buy a Titan. I just want to have a hoard of ISK because I can. I also want to earn that ISK in game. I could drop some IRL cash, buy some PLEX, and poof I'd be a billionaire in a few clicks. That isn't my thing. I don't feel that it would feel the same to do it that way. It's one of my in game accomplishments. Anyway, I picked up the skill book accounting a few weeks ago. It is a 4.5 million isk skill book. I was buying skill books then that I wanted to use as place holders to remind me what to train. I got accounting when I first s

Finding Answers

Since I have no idea what is being said about half of the time, I have spent a good bit of time looking up the lexicon of Eve. Eve is old enough that it has developed its own internal language for its bits and pieces. Some are easy enough to figure out and some you just figure out eventually, someone tells you, or you have god like powers to understand mutilated language. I was advised to start reading Failheap Challenge . It is a good forum full of bitter eve veterans that rain down nuggets of intensely dense information. I then have to interpret those nuggets and sometimes I just fail. Reading up about fleet fights got me to look up a lexicon for Eve. I found Eve University's Lexicon . it was a good starter for acronyms. Eve is full of them. Due to the proliferation of verbal communications, the chatting has become a condensed thick bog of technical jargon that you have to navigate. It helps a conversation make sense sometimes. Very few seem to remember that these

A Focus

"If Chella is going to be your 'carebear' toon, you need to get into a thanny . Nothing says carebear like a carrier," my CEO announced the other day. "Sounds good to me," was my response. And hence, my future was born. I've been training my core skills. Its what I've been whining about for weeks and will continue to whine about because they are very useful, its the right thing to do, but it sucks. I can't do anything that's tangibly new and cool. I have my same old same old skill set and that means I suck. But, I expect that when I do get to ramp up in another few weeks the difference will be very, very noticeable. However, this carrier thing is a long range plan to the tune of about 18 months to be fully functional and super nifty. The nice part is that it perfectly compliments my goals of becoming a logistics focused pilot. So it will consume my logistics training which is a mandatory prerequisite for me to be a kick ass supp

My ships go boom

My CEO laughed at me today because I managed to get one of my retriever's blown up by NPCs. Gods. I got distracted and the retriever I pulled out to handle the mining part of an NPC storyline mission I was on. Well, distracted by IRL, I look back at my screen as I am in half structure. Shit. I start warping off and as I hit warp my mail icon flashes and an insurance notification appears and then my ship blows up. Shit. The day before, I was trying to run to a station to buy the skill book Fast Talk. Well, my sector status at the time was a 2.7 and I hopped into space and got scrammed, webbed, and popped by the NPC Police. Brilliant Whoops. Gods. The total loss was around 10 million. The scary part is that isn't very much to me anymore. I remember when I was trying to build that up. Today, I did make some nice isk. I got to run around and do some complexes with my corpies. I've never done them before so it was a new experience. I made plenty of tas

Null, Fleets, Blobs

I almost feel silly, my anticipation to log in and see if their is something that I can get into that is not missioning and isk making. I feel silly for the simple fact that I feel inadequate. However, as long as I can go I am trying to go. I'm learning a lot by just following the fleet commander's orders and keeping up with what is going on. My first experience with any type of 'large' fleets were back when I was with AVKP and we put 6 or so people out on the field. That felt like a lot of people. Fast forward today and there were fifty people. Holy shit. Whenever I look at images of Eve, or show someone images of Eve, I remind myself/them that each of those ships represents a player. It is not a game where you make a fleet and order it around (outside of the fleet commander) and the ships are your legions. Each is piloted by someone. Sure, sometimes people are running multiple accounts but when you get into big things like that, its a lot of people working

The more I learn the less I know

I don't think I'm some awesome prodigy. Yet, as I seek to learn more about Eve I figure out how little I know about Eve. It creates a strange image of the deep, foggy trench that is my ignorance mixed with my desire to learn. I don't expect to learn the entire game but I'd like to get comfortable with it. During one of our random, early morning chats, my CEO told me I need more bittervet. I was pleased by the compliment, but reminded him that I'm two months in and everything is covered in a sparkly layer of new glitter for me. I was told that I needed more Bittervet again. *chuckle* Ever since my drop in sector status a few days ago, I've been treated a little bit differently by some. I was asked: "Who did you pod?" "I didn't pod anyone." "You are down to a -2" "I didn't pod anyone." "Uh Huh" "My corp boards are public." So the corp board was looked up and the fact that

Skill Books and some Piracy

I move in and out of low sec a lot and need a better ship then my trusty catalyst. So, my interest has been in the special ops ships and interceptors so I am currently training into a blockade runner. This is a transport industrial ship that is super fast and runs under cloak. It will take me almost a month to finish all the skills for it. I have to get my industry ship up to 5, my cloaking skills up to 4 to get the special ops cloak, and I have to buy transport ships the skill book. That skill book is my biggest purchase yet. I was horrified when I looked it up. 34 mil isk. I just about died. I know the higher level skill books get more and more expensive, but it still hurts. It also adds to the investment if one is calculating the price of reaching the goal. The ship is 100 mil isk. The mods for the ship are expensive. The covert ops cloaking device alone is going to run over 7 mil isk. Of course, I have to shut up and stop whining. My corp has a spare ship laying

I post before bed

I'm posting just to post I believe. I managed not to accomplish anything today and I'm a bit irritated by it. So, I spent isk instead. Not productive. I didn't spend a lot. I decided to burn some time doing mining missions because that is just how I am. I hate security missions and  I've not developed a taste for them after trying for a month. Anyway, when thinking about what to blog about, I looked at my page hits. I don't expect anyone to find my little ramblings. However, I have a bunch of hits from a rage face Russian website. I don't think I want to know why.

The path least travelled

I should be in bed. I just got in from work and the server has gone down for an emergency reboot. I meant to write about API keys but I'll do that later. Instead I'm going to chatter for a moment about prejudice in Eve and my horrific habit of taking the path less traveled when I do anything. When I played City of Heroes for instance, I made an ice/ice blaster hero. It seems that they are somewhat uncommon. I loved it but it was a bit harder until she hit the high levels. Then she was amazing. When I first started Eve, I was sure that I wanted to be a carebear, building industrialist. I wanted isk and lots of ore and I would build cool stuff and feel awesome. I do have the isk. The rest has toppled down hill. I blame my pirate for it. The other night, before someone learned of my more 'pirate' bent they went on about how awful pirates in the game were. My comment was that I had been treated better and given more information and help by pirates then by a

Tears and Null Sec

I was on my own for most of the day so I spent it making some isk and hanging out with new people. One person is from a help chat I've been on. Nice enough and they got their ass handed to them during the bane of my existence, the Sister's of Eve arc . I wandered down to help in my battle cruiser and my drones ate the rooms for him as if they had something against the NPCs. He told me I was amazing. I could only laugh and say no, I'm just a few weeks older with some skills focused. Amazing, I am not. I did notice a bunch of newbie traps hanging around the station in Arnon. There were also a lot of people who had anchored canisters with warning messages. Its an interesting place down there. Most newbies are going to be 1-2 weeks into the game so they may or may not have listened and read enough to learn about can flipping and baiting and such. I did a quick Google search and found this link "My Loot, Your Tears" . I linked it and told him to read it
