Saga Response - A Continuation

For those following the silly Saga there has been no in game response but there is another blog post response to read. If you are not into spoilers read it first before continuing. I know many have been amused.

I received no in game response and doubt that I will be making a direct blog post response to him. After reading what he wrote I realized that I did not do a good enough job expressing my lack of interest intermixed with my distaste for his approach. I should have added, "please go away" but I was to busy being clever and cute.

His reaction to send me a response crafted around my obvious desire for him and to treat me as a gold digger after his stuff left a sour taste about this entire thing. I'm sure many will find it well done and amusing. I know that it is all roleplay. I still find it incredibly disappointing that his reaction moved in that direction with a third party screen.

So, I've been put in my place over the entire thing. I find it rather sad that the response is to make sure I know that it is cute that I think so much of myself but a clear indicator that he is so amazing. Especially for someone that has been acting weird as hell and making statements that hover over my personal insult threshold and only stayed over it because of the joking nature. Only that joking nature is obviously going to stay where it is and my place inside of this particular saga as he writes it is not to be any type of strong, independent spirit. Nope, its 'quaint' in his own words. I'm terribly disappointed and a bit insulted. But, this was never about me. I was target for his creativity and passive or active I am but a piece of scenery in this story.

If I receive no in game response I will not move further. I had hoped for some type of fun, if silly exchange of creativity. I'm disappointed but I have no one but myself to blame for not crafting a better response.

Oh well. Not everything turns into a work of interconnected poetry.

  1. That's how RP works. He's playing a character that just isn't going to react the way you would like and you're not likely to change that. Probably time to give his character the kiss-off, which would be completely justifiable within the context of the RP (and something I'd bet happens to him more than a few times).

I do find it odd, though, that he seems to be continuing the RP out of game. I used to RP online back in the day, and the convention always was that any RP happened in-game or it didn't happen.

    1. To be picky he distanced his character by making a new one to respond. RP isn't my thing. I hoped with all the voices and enthusiasm I was in the wrong. So I tried something new and found it distasteful, disappointing, and degrading.

I'm glad other people enjoy this. Its not for me.

    2. Sue Derpantsoff! Oh he just busted out Sue. Sue is a constant thorn in my side when interacting with the Great Lhorenzho. Many sympathies. Can't believe he has Sue involved .... *shakes head*

  2. Just a few comments from a casual and entertained observer...

I liked your response to Lhorenzho; you really came across as the ice-cold Pirate Queen you claimed to be! Well written and well acted - that's they key thing with RP - it's acting.

From your writing in this blog I can see that you invest a lot of yourself as a player in the Sugar Kyle avatar. In contrast, Lhorenzho's player is acting out his narcissistic, batshit insane capsuleer for the entertainment of himself and the audience.

Sometimes these two playstyles don't quite gel together - as a somewhat extreme example, look at the RP'ing New Order and their opponents who claim that they must be cultists / fascists / sociopaths in RL.

I think if you distanced yourself and acted out the Pirate Queen you'd enjoy it, if only for the exercise in creative writing, which you've clearly got a talent for!

    :)

Conflicted

Halycon said it quite well in a comment he left about the skill point trading proposal for skill point changes. He is conflicted in many different ways.

So am I.

Somedays, I don't want to be open minded. I do not want to see other points of view. I want to not like things and not feel good about them and it be okay. That is something that is denied me for now. I've stated my opinion about the first round of proposals to trade skills.

I don't like them.

That isn't good enough. I have to answer why. Others do not like it as well. I cannot escape over to their side and be unhappy with them. I am dragged away and challenged about my distaste.  Some of the people I like most think the change is good. Other's think it has little meaning. They want to know why I don't like it.

When this was proposed at the CSM summit, I swiveled my chair and asked if they realized that they were undoing the basic structure that characters and game progression worked under. They said that t…

CSMX - Post #20

Summer is here and CCP is very much out of the office. Sion made a good point in wondering why everyone leaves Iceland when it has its best weather. What it means is that all is mostly quiet on the dev blog front. There are some things happening but the dev blogs and news announcements have not yet happened. The skill points were delivered on Tuesday so yay for unallocated skill points.

Over in CSM chat, there has been a lot of back and forth about sov and measuring the impact and success of things so far. I can say that CCP and the CSM are watching it. The pros and cons are coming in pretty hot and heavy. Some are being looked at now. Some have to see how things are going and if and how the direction needs to be tweaked.

In my corner, I'm starting to gather things together. The summit is in seven or so weeks. In between then and now I need to gather up my question list and write down a few topics of discussion. I'm starting now because I have personal vacation at the end of A…

Passion is so circular

I should dust the blog and delete the spam to leaks in through googles not so bad filters.

I log in from time to time to check my mail and see some of my friends. But, of lat I've commented on a few things in r/eve and it makes me think. Not of the impassioned things that I once thought about as I played the game but of the passions of the game.

I have the gift of several eve players are parts of my life. And we talk, but rarely about Eve. Most of them have left to some extent or another but the relationship that we gained is still strong. I do not hate Eve but I am still exhausted with Eve, even now when I am so far out. It seems to be CSM summit time and the anger and race that sits atop everything related to the game is still there.

It is interesting in its exhaustive existence. The passion is there and the player reaction continues to go full circle. Some things are still said the same way over, and over, and over again. Is it love? Is it hate? Or is it just stimulation that i…
