NES: Little Updates

In case anyone was spending their time worried that I was tired f my new project.

I just added an active and inactive page to the archive. I created them as master lists that someone can just scroll through from A to Z.

I added a few more blogs to the list. I'm now adding the month/year that I add them to the database. As I see people's blogs I am trying to snatch them up and add them in. It isn't a perfect system but the list is growing.

I am also putting a little update notice on the main page. This should help anyone checking the site to know that it is an active and tended project.

This weekend I will probably start looking at categories as well and add a few more news articles once I hunt them down.

I'm going to let the name soak in a bit more but I will probably buy a domain name for it shortly.

I know that there is a lot of Eve Blog drama out there right now. New Eden Source is simply an archive project. I can get my kicks out of seeing myself as a historian or librarian. If anything, the Eve Blog drama out there shows a need for independent sources and lists not focused on anything but creating accessibility paths for those seeking information about Eve. This is never going to be a highly complex website. That is not the goal. I want it very simple because its feature is the information that it holds.

Comments

  1. You might consider heaving a "Filter" on the blogs so the user can use "show only active blogs", e.g. if looking for information about more recent stuff or the up-to-date mechanics of EVE.

I don't know anything about how complex it would be to implement that, though.

    1. Thank would be wonderful but it is well above my current abilities. However, may be time to learn some basic website language beyond my HTML abilities.

Some of what you are looking for will be in the category pages once I figure out what I want them to say and how I want them to look. It will not be a search and get focused flavor cookie option but it should allow someone to easily select a sub-page that has a more focused list of what they want.

  2. I am being part of the peanut gallery, with trivial suggestions. No rush; your list is already wonderful. Seriously.

Can you add 'contact details' on new eden sources? Your front page has 'If you have any links for me to add leave a comment or send me an e-mail and I will add it.'

However it also has "Comments : You do not have permission to add comments."

I also can't find an email address, or pilot name on it, or an explicit link back to this site to allow people to add comments.

    1. No worries. I will get that info added tonight. I dunno why the comments are weird. If I cannot get them working I will try to remove them.

  3. http://talocanunited.com/wordpress/feed/ : wormhole category(if you end up adding categories).

Now all I need to do us update my own lists from yours (and add this talocan's site too)

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

And back again

My very slow wormhole adventure continues almost as slowly as I am terminating my island in Animal Crossing.  My class 3 wormhole was not where I wanted to be. I was looking for a class 1 or 2 wormhole. I dropped my probes and with much less confusion scanned another wormhole. I remembered to dscan and collect my probes as I warped to the wormhole. I even remembered to drop a bookmark, wormholes being such good bookmark locations later. My wormhole told me it was a route into low sec. I tilted my head. How circular do our adventures go. Today might be the day to die and that too is okay. That mantra dances in the back of my head these days. Even if someone mocks me, what does that matter? Fattening someone's killboard is their issue not mine. So I jumped through and found myself in Efa in Khanid, tucked on the edge of high sec and null sec. What an interesting little system.  Several connections to high sec. A connection to null sec. This must be quite the traffic system.    I am f
