Rigs? Okies.

I seem to be on the spiraling path of acquiring more and more spaceships for various reasons that make a lot of sense to me but not much to my wallet.  With the cruiser changes more and more cruisers are appearing in my hangers.  One of the side effects is that I must fit all of these ships.  That has started to get expensive.  Therefore I look to trim cost here and there.  There are useful things like the corp ops to build our own ships and building my Cynabal's from my own blueprint copies.  However, it is the rigs that have irritated me of late.

Most T1 ships wind up fitted with three rigs.  A trickledown effect of recent changes has been an increase in the cost of salvage.  The increase in the cost of salvage increases the cost of rigs on the market.  Shield rig prices have gone up and they are staying up.  It's annoying.

On a 10 or 15 million ISK ship I am dropping that price again in rigs.  I'm not going to not have the rigs.  Once I learned and saw how invaluable they are to improving the ship, especially in areas of tank, I have no interest in not having them.  However, the price increase is unpleasant and I realized that I was an idiot.

I have a lot of salvage.  A lot of salvage.  Often times the pathetic price for salvage is such that I just shove it into a container until it grows into a large enough pile to be worth something.  Some salvage prices have risen while others have dropped dramatically.  I'm into making my own stuff and for once I have a financially sound (I think?) reason to do so.  I am not making more off of selling the salvage then I am off of making the rigs.

I feel a bit stupid for not thinking about it sooner.  A few days ago I went and grabbed some basic rig blueprints for small and medium shield and armor rigs and started making my own stuff.  My first batch came out of the oven.  It's like I made magic only I could have done it a long time ago and never thought about it.  Now I am rolling around in piles of salvage that I am rapidly converting into rigs and the BPOs have paid themselves off.  Plus I have rigs and its super cool to make new stuff.

On a side note, to my absolute fascination, someone pointed out that a local group has a campaign on their kill board against my alliance.  It is kind of amusing.  I wonder if that is why there is traffic here from their forums.  I've never been into war decs and enemies and war targets and such things so having a group be like, "We shall seek to killz them" is rather mind boggling for me.  I'm the pew and let pew type without need for formal declaration or any declaration.  I even think I'm pretty friendly and okay to have chats with outside of the spaceship violence moments.

Did we piss them off?  Maybe it is just their thing that they do to have motivations and goals within their corporation. It is odd to be the target of such but I guess it was bound to happen.  I personally have not tangled with them outside of the POS fight with 7-2 the other week, I don't think.  From the kill board the boys have been more active with them, having several very good fights with them.

Now I want to talk to them.  I guess I can try and see how it goes.  Between the forum traffic and this campaign thing I'm now curious about them as people.  I do hope they have fun with this.  The boys are always happy to have fights brought to the table.  It would be pleasant for it to stay group vs group for whatever reason it is and free of the weird vicious bitterness that so often follows behind conflict.  That may just be a dream of mine.  Then there is the thought that they may look for information in my blog. If so, I feel bad for them wading through my insecurities, confidence problems, random babble and  habitual discussion about industry and the social complexity of Eve.  But, for now that is all speculation.

  1. When fitting cruisers or other cheap ships where I don't want to spend a load of isk on rigs I usually fit resistance rigs instead of field extenders or trimarks.
Not as effective but it also means your resists are usually more even across the board and you don't have that typical em/explosive hole in your resists. And that thermal rig means it's usually your strongest resist instead of the second hole while almost everyone deals thermal damage because it's usually the best guess for the second worst resist.

CSMX - Post #20

Summer is here and CCP is very much out of the office. Sion made a good point in wondering why everyone leaves Iceland when it has its best weather. What it means is that all is mostly quiet on the dev blog front. There are some things happening but the dev blogs and news announcements have not yet happened. The skill points were delivered on Tuesday so yay for unallocated skill points.

Over in CSM chat, there has been a lot of back and forth about sov and measuring the impact and success of things so far. I can say that CCP and the CSM are watching it. The pros and cons are coming in pretty hot and heavy. Some are being looked at now. Some have to see how things are going and if and how the direction needs to be tweaked.

In my corner, I'm starting to gather things together. The summit is in seven or so weeks. In between then and now I need to gather up my question list and write down a few topics of discussion. I'm starting now because I have personal vacation at the end of A…

The Charm of the Familar

With a few picked up a shifts at work due to the holidays. I pondered logging in but I didn't have the energy to do so. Being able to say no to logging in is pleasant. Just as my youngest puppy interrupts me every fifteen minutes to pee, going to sleep instead of staying up is also pleasant. I had a lot of short slept nights when I was active in a corporation.

My next plan has been to learn how to scan again. The new map is in and I need to refresh my scanning skills. My hold is full of probes. My ship appears to be reasonably set up. I remembered how to hit my F key to cloak. In fact, I hit it a bit to fast. I need to get the ebb and flow of the tic back down.

I am also rusty in my paranoia. I idly switch to another window to research breadbowls and the soup I want to make later. Then I remember I am sitting, decloaked, off of a gate somewhere. Whoops. I did figure out a breadbowl recipe and soup as well.

The question was where do I relearn to scan? I need somewhere off the beate…

The lack of perfection

I had the pleasure of having Keskora Yaari. We met a bit after I started the CSM and hit it off. As friendships often do it developed into being about the people and not the medium that we met each other in. My new house has a guest room (my previous one was taken over by my mother who moved in and never moved out) and it was fun to have someone in that I could babble about a large part of my last six months of house renovations.

I tried to pamper and spoil her. Those are always the most fun things to do when a friend comes over. I did make sure she was stuffed full of local interesting things. It is only fair, after all. My abilities as a host have improved and I was pleased with myself.

One of our interesting links, outside of Eve, is dogs. We are both dog people. Over my years blogging I have discussed and shared time my creatures. From the passing of Nyx to the acquisition of Intuition. He is doing great by the way. He is two and a half now!

We discussed Eve some but it wasn't…
