My Incursion Experiment: Part Three

I had to bow out of a good roam last night. Not because of incursions but because of IRL. The boys played with Nulli and Nulli hot dropped dreds on them. WTF ROFL is about my only summary of that situation. I'm a bit sad that I missed it.

Today I'm going to try to throw out some numbers.

I vaugly did the maths. I am starting Sunday at 130 mil made. The groups I have been with have been getting 10,395,000 ISK a site. The rythem of the sites is up and down. We lose people, we have to refit. Etc.

I'm terrible at ISK per hour conversions. I'm not making 100 mil ISK an hour because, well, I've made 140mil. I'm not unhappy with said ISK that I have made so far. I can't compare it to level 4 missions because of the handful that I have done, I've never done more then 3 or 4 in a row before I get bored.

For people who want numbers, here you go. Look into the depths of my wallet...

To do a comparison. My market sales which are composed of items I have pulled from exploration sites or salvaged from exploration sites and Level 5 missions have netted me 130 million this weekend from things selling on the market. I still have 500 mil in outstanding sell orders of shiny things.

I know I am not pounding out the isk per hour that everyone talks about. I'd hoped that magically I'd be transported to this land of 100mil isk an hour doing incursions and/or level 4s. So far, its never happened to me. I lack a skill set or mind set for it. My life is composed of ISK bumps.

In my other windows, as I wait for excursion fleets I am still doing my normal scanning for sites and a little bit of sec status ratting. I would not be grinding away at missions for ISK if I was not doing the incursions. Even when not in a fleet I'd probably not have Chella logged in at all if I wasn't trying this out.

When I logged in today, ren told me that the Mothership was down. I remembered that someone said the incursion had to come down on Sunday. Once Chella was logged in, the new incursion was 10 systems away and I had 18k CONCORD loyalty points.

Off I went.

It was pretty busy with logistic ships. I was randomly told at one pointt hat my fit was out dated. This is the standard fit that I was given.

Umm... no...

I was willing to switch out and get some tracking links. Since we were not in Amarr space I headed off to Amarr to buy some stuff. I felt kinda bad. Like I was poorly fitted trash or something. I think its the begging. The "X up for fleet" stuff that happens. Please invite me. Please invite me to fleet. X here is my fit! X here is more bling then other fits. I don't think I like the begging. It is making me feel a bit strange. This is the competition for fits I have heard about I guess.

Hello, Amarr.

Turns out I was not paying attention to the fit I was posting and was posting the wrong fit. Whoops. The one I had was just fine. It was a wasted bunch of jumps and a reminder to pay attention to things a bit better and perhaps not try to play Eve when only a quarter awake.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch I was hanging out with Eve Uni, I discovered that becuase Capital Punishment. is still negitive -10 I can't get into their incursion fleets. I felt that this was an injustice to everyone (me) and sent Darian this message on twitter.

Maybe I'll actually get into a fleet later today.

  1. Incursions, meh.
Yes it's better PvE than the rest of the PvE in EvE, but still. :-/ Reminds me too much of the D&D dweebs of the A/V club arguing over whether +1 Flail of Fail is better than +2 Crossbow of Crossdress. Just saying.

  2. It is different and a different mindset and person type. It is hard for me to bite my tongue sometimes. I'm not in love with it by any means. I doubt I will be writing about my escape from low sec to becoming a full time incursion runner.

  3. The only time I tried to go in an incursion fleet at the time I was told that my skills were not good enough and my ship was not good enough (though it was minimum requirements listed on the website) so since it was basically a side game of interest for me and being treated like space trash left me with an intense dislike for the entire community. I eventually found better things with that curiousity streak of mine lol

The Charm of the Familar

With a few picked up a shifts at work due to the holidays. I pondered logging in but I didn't have the energy to do so. Being able to say no to logging in is pleasant. Just as my youngest puppy interrupts me every fifteen minutes to pee, going to sleep instead of staying up is also pleasant. I had a lot of short slept nights when I was active in a corporation.

My next plan has been to learn how to scan again. The new map is in and I need to refresh my scanning skills. My hold is full of probes. My ship appears to be reasonably set up. I remembered how to hit my F key to cloak. In fact, I hit it a bit to fast. I need to get the ebb and flow of the tic back down.

I am also rusty in my paranoia. I idly switch to another window to research breadbowls and the soup I want to make later. Then I remember I am sitting, decloaked, off of a gate somewhere. Whoops. I did figure out a breadbowl recipe and soup as well.

The question was where do I relearn to scan? I need somewhere off the beate…

TCS: Sugar's Non-Technical Guide to Her Low Sec Market

Gevlon shocked me by featuring my store in his blog, yesterday. My entire project has been something I mostly scraped together and have bumbled through to the best of my ability and sense. Early on, I started a naming dynamic to my posts so that people could avoid the blogs about the store. These blogs are titled TCS. Also, if you search for TCS those particular blogs are available.

I decided to create a more cohesive naming strategy because someone said, “I don’t know how interested your readers will be in your market posts.” I didn’t either. I wasn't going to not write them because I write about whatever interests me. It seemed that a naming convention would correct the situation. However, I’ve started to receive a trickle of eve-mail and e-mail about what I am doing. Sometimes people ask me for advice on how to approach their own low sec market or what they should pick and choose or just how to pick and choose.

Cheradenine Harper asked me about moving forward into the wider mark…

CSMX - Post #20

Summer is here and CCP is very much out of the office. Sion made a good point in wondering why everyone leaves Iceland when it has its best weather. What it means is that all is mostly quiet on the dev blog front. There are some things happening but the dev blogs and news announcements have not yet happened. The skill points were delivered on Tuesday so yay for unallocated skill points.

Over in CSM chat, there has been a lot of back and forth about sov and measuring the impact and success of things so far. I can say that CCP and the CSM are watching it. The pros and cons are coming in pretty hot and heavy. Some are being looked at now. Some have to see how things are going and if and how the direction needs to be tweaked.

In my corner, I'm starting to gather things together. The summit is in seven or so weeks. In between then and now I need to gather up my question list and write down a few topics of discussion. I'm starting now because I have personal vacation at the end of A…
