CSMX - Post #25

Hi there! Welcome to the weekend. In this week stuff has happened and will be happening and we're going to go over most of it before I run off to my vacation.

It is patch week. There will be some sov tweaks.  I don't get the feeling that this is going to make people utterly happy  and Agis sov the sov of out hearts.  It is a step and hopefully we can get to a better place. The null talks continue.

Red makes it go faster.  More skins have been added buy they don't belong to a shipyard. Instead CCP had listened and is trying out designed for the sake of it.  This heavily focuses on Calder and Minmatar this time around giving them a few more choices than red, reddish, red brown...etc. I'm pleased with this direction. Im not atill sold on prices but I am happy to see the more open minded  approch to ship SKINs.

The lore is moving along. The Empress seems to be dead and there are fascinating  events on SiSi. I deem this good.

Last week Corbexx and I held a structure doings.  Mike did the recording for us.  That went well and presented a bunch of feedback and problems mostly wormhole focused to the structure team.  I'm also working on my structure Q&A but there are only but so many hours in a day. Piece by piece we're working on this. Thank you for participating.

Also on my immediate  plate: I'm now able to do some public fact finding for facton warfare. I have a thread up on the forum about started needs for faction warfare.  I know that it is not what everyone may want to talk about but it is very much what I need to fact find about right now. I need feedback and ive gotten some good stuff but this is a very open floor right now. Personal expierences, friends expierences, as recruuters and members I'd like it all.

Sorry about the lack of links this week. My hotel connection  is not the best. The summit is around the corner  and there seems to be more to do than ever.

  1. My biggest complaint with faction war is that I can not participate without quiting my corporation and that is not going to happen. It would be nice if I could join the faction war npc corporation in addition to being a member of my existing corp.

  2. My complaint is the standings hit. After all, if you're a really good mercenary (as capsuleers are), wouldn't attacking another empire effectively only increase your desirability to them? "We better pay them off before they do more damage."

    1. The standings issue is the reason I haven't tried faction warfare yet. I don't want to cripple ability to move to another part of empire space in the future. If there was a practical way to get recover standings I'd be more likely to try it out.

    2. Tis a fine line between "mercenary" and "extortionist"...

Seriously though, perhaps there should be a place within faction warfare for "unaligned" mercs, who don't get faction hits for their actions, but can sign up for one side of the other for the fights. Of course, they wouldn't get any faction buffs either -- and that would include the loyalty store discounts the "aligned" warriors make their ISK from.

What, you wanted the benefits of faction loyalty without the drawbacks? Shame on you... :-)

    3. There already is a place for them: If you chase out a stabbed button-orbiting frigate, the pilot's unaligned alt shows up in a fire-breathing T2 ship and tries to kill you.

      Such fun.

    4. If you are concerned about the standings, just join Caldari militia -- you'll only potentially get excluded from Gallente high sec, which is crap anyway.

  3. Need to talk about implications of structures on FW space, where ability to base/dock in a system is currently limited by faction sov and is HUGELY important -- in some ways is actually one of the few actual conflict drivers in FW as it currently stands. The character of stationless systems is also very important. If militias can now dock at their own or third-party structures in any system, it completely changes the war zone. Impact MUST be assessed in-depth.

  4. You're going to hear (from the heads of FW PC corps) that they want/need to be able to tax LP -- this is from FW PC corp heads who have moved here from null and think that tax and SRP are necessary. Do we really want to make FW low sec more like null? As a veteran militia member who has always played in the NPC corp but is now considering joining a PC corp, *any* LP tax would turn me off to joining a PC corp. Concentrating LP in the hands of a small number of decision-makers also has the potential for serious market manipulation. Please take the time to determine how many militia members are actually represented/impacted by the few, loud voices that are going to ask for LP tax -- even PC corp members may not speak up to object for fear of reprisal from corp leadership. Individual LP income at typical Tier 2 is really not great now (and grinding plexes to get it is often quite boring and creates no content), and does not need to be taxed.

    1. Ships in space generate no content?

      Hmmm....

Nevermind that though, what do you think of the ability to donate LP to your corp/alliance? (or maybe even players?)

This way, you could create a 'all in it together' bond for your group, maybe competitions on who donates the most?

I think taxing LP is kinda dumb, since the corp isn't doing the work, the player is. If the Corp was doing the work then maybe....

  5. @Rob - Stabbed farmers are not considered desirable content by many. It would be more interesting if, for example, winning a fight (i.e. clear all opposing militia from capture radius) in a complex triggered an immediate capture. Orbiting the button for 20-30 minutes is not fun and takes too long. Even shorter capture times or lower requirements for system flipping might generate more content.

I think LP transfer is better than LP tax, and should be discussed. It would be a tremendous convenience for cashing out and enable some centralization of LP disposal for groups who desire that. However, it does have some of the same problems as LP tax. It creates a secondary currency, for one. It also reduces ships-in-space during ihub donations -- all donations could be done by one person. Overall it reduces the need for people to organize and interact and be on-line at the same time -- not sure this is necessarily desirable, but is worth discussing.

    1. A lot of that could be reduced if there was a 'conversion rate' for giving LP's to another character (maybe make the rate based on that character's standings with the npc corp?)

Player: 'Hey agent, can you transfer X amount of my loyalty points to Soandso?'

Agent: 'Certainly player, though we don't really know them at all and will therefore only give him 50% of the LP's you tell us to transfer...'

Maybe one day!

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

And back again

My very slow wormhole adventure continues almost as slowly as I am terminating my island in Animal Crossing.  My class 3 wormhole was not where I wanted to be. I was looking for a class 1 or 2 wormhole. I dropped my probes and with much less confusion scanned another wormhole. I remembered to dscan and collect my probes as I warped to the wormhole. I even remembered to drop a bookmark, wormholes being such good bookmark locations later. My wormhole told me it was a route into low sec. I tilted my head. How circular do our adventures go. Today might be the day to die and that too is okay. That mantra dances in the back of my head these days. Even if someone mocks me, what does that matter? Fattening someone's killboard is their issue not mine. So I jumped through and found myself in Efa in Khanid, tucked on the edge of high sec and null sec. What an interesting little system.  Several connections to high sec. A connection to null sec. This must be quite the traffic system.    I am f
