Fanfest 2015 - Day Two

I feel lazy. I have a note book with notes I gathered during the round tables I attended today but I am very, very tired and I have been very busy.

I got up at eight and felt like a train had run over me. I managed to roll and force myself out of bed to stagger down to breakfast. There I ate with Core. Eventually Steve and Sion appeared. I eat a ton at breakfast. Lunch at the Harpa is very expensive for a little bit of food and the hotel comes with a buffet. So, I fill myself up to the brim which gets me through to dinner.

Steve, Sion, and Core all had to be at Harpa at 1130 because they are giving talks. I went up to my room to dress in my cosplay. I have never done anything like this and as I added eyeliner and debated drawing tattoos on my face I had to calm myself down. Bright purple lipstick? Double thick eyeliner? Its all not me but I did it and walked to Harpa.

I got to the lobby and saw that it was bright outside. I went back for my sunglasses. I then made it two thirds of the way there and realized I had forgotten pen and paper. I went back to the hotel. By now I'm flustered. I'm running around in a Minmatar jacket. Its hot. I am embarrassed even though no one is looking at me. I made it back, get my stuff and head  out but I'm a bit frazzled.

Some pictures uploaded. Hopefully this works.

Fortunately, I bumped into CCP Affinity. We went to watch the opening keynote. I also found Asay along the way which was fun. Then it was round table to round tables. I went and posed for the costume contest. My attire was character creator capsuleer with camo cargo pants, boots, jacket, braided hair, Quafe Mega shirt and to much makeup on. How excited and embarrassed I was. I'm super shy of pictures and my Jacket has been such a project for me. There were several amazing outfits and if I do this again I'll have more time to prepare something.

Round tables went round. I hung out with Nosy Gamer for a bit. Then Leeloo summoned me to the community area and I discovered that I won third place for my little outfit. Really? Some people were so amazing!

Also I had to sort out my dinner pass at some point. I bumped into people, talked, looked at the Eve Store and went to the wormhole round table just buzzed about my win. Then that was done and we went to the Keynote where I fianlly bumped into the Snuff Box boys hanging around. I now have a Snuff Hoodie.

Off to the Kynote where I rescued CCP Masterplan from not having someone to sit with. Then we crowded in and enjoyed the keynote and I was surprisingly calm. Not knowing most of the keynote was fantastic. I got to just enjoy it.

And then the CSM stuff. And I see that I made it. I then clap for myself because everyone else is clapping so I can clap to I think but I don't know the etiquette in clapping and wow. I'll write a separate post about that.

After we got out I talked to more people, met Niden and ran off to dinner. I changed into fancy clothing and had a nice dinner talking to people and circulating around. Then Corbexx, Steve, Mangala, and I headed to Laundromat because I wanted a milkshake. The milkshake was good. Its texture was different and they used chocolate flakes for the chocolate but I enjoyed it. We talked until 0030 and retired to our rooms.

I did manage to get bottles for the 4 craft Eve beers at the dinner. Yay souvenirs!

I'm sorry that I'm slim on the details and that I haven't transcribed the sessions but its almost two and I have a bit more to write tonight.

Comments

  1. Just think of it as clapping for those who voted for you and the others who won.

  2. Completely unrelated: I just flew through Bosena for the first time and thought of you.

Glad fanfest is going well, and kind of jealous :) Congrats on the award!

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

Conflicted

Halycon said it quite well in a comment he left about the skill point trading proposal for skill point changes. He is conflicted in many different ways. So am I. Somedays, I don't want to be open minded. I do not want to see other points of view. I want to not like things and not feel good about them and it be okay. That is something that is denied me for now. I've stated my opinion about the first round of proposals to trade skills. I don't like them. That isn't good enough. I have to answer why. Others do not like it as well. I cannot escape over to their side and be unhappy with them. I am dragged away and challenged about my distaste.  Some of the people I like most think the change is good. Other's think it has little meaning. They want to know why I don't like it. When this was proposed at the CSM summit, I swiveled my chair and asked if they realized that they were undoing the basic structure that characters and game progression worked under. They said th
