PvE Sounding board 13th Dec

Corbexx is doing a wormhole sounding board on December 13th at 2000 with CCP Affinity. After that, I will be doing an hours worth of PvE content with her and a small group of players.

This is part of CSM9's attempt to promote communication between the players and the developers. This is a very small session with only 15-20 people. The first wormhole session went well. We'd like to expand this to a general PvE session as well and see how it goes. To be fair I am posting this in a public place and it will be first come first serve.

Please only sign up if you can be available for that date.

This is a relaxed feedback and idea session. Rudeness, ranting, and the inability to let other people speak will not be tolerated.

I am splitting the seats between the forums and blog readers because I know not everyone uses the forums. At the same time, it would not be fair for me to only pull blog readers. This is a trial run and assuming everyone can follow the rules, it should go well.

  2. I won't be able to make it. But could some please bring up losing standings towards other empires because of standings?

    Its a bad system. I have newbie mission runners who find out they can't go to Jita because they've ran too many missions for Gallente. It adds nothing to the game.

  3. I'm very interested in the state of, and future plans for, PvE; Unfortunately I don't think I can attend the session.

    Would it be possible to send in some quick questions I would like asked? Or, at the very least, will a summary be available afterwards?

  5. Been trying to figure out how to word this, I apologize if it’s a little wordy:

    I try to keep up to date with the developments in Eve, so I know CCP has research and statistics that say players that join corps are more likely to stick with Eve than players that play solo. The thing is, the current mission system promotes solo play over grouping.

    In most MMOs players are given the same mission chain which causes them to run into, or interact, with each other at the objectives. Eve on the other hand, creates a unique instance for each player. This ensures that the story, and objective, will be intact each play through, but also means that players will only encounter each other at agents.

    As a result groups really don’t form organically, like they do in other MMOs, players have to spend time actively looking for a group or corp rather than just meeting people while playing.

    Is this a concern, or should it be an accepted quirk of the current system? Would CCP be open to creating a new set of missions that have communal mission areas, if those missions were opt out like the burners?

    Second Question – More of a personal pet peeve:

    I like to run SoE combat missions in my spare time, it’s relatively stress free until I hit a story line mission and get bumped over to a distribution agent. Since I cannot fly advanced transports it’s frustrating to get a mission like: move 40x1000m3, which just isn’t possible for me to finish. Is this intentional?

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. Conflicted

Halycon said it quite well in a comment he left about the skill point trading proposal for skill point changes. He is conflicted in many different ways. So am I. Somedays, I don't want to be open minded. I do not want to see other points of view. I want to not like things and not feel good about them and it be okay. That is something that is denied me for now. I've stated my opinion about the first round of proposals to trade skills. I don't like them. That isn't good enough. I have to answer why. Others do not like it as well. I cannot escape over to their side and be unhappy with them. I am dragged away and challenged about my distaste.  Some of the people I like most think the change is good. Other's think it has little meaning. They want to know why I don't like it.
