Iceland in September - Day Two

Picture Album

There is now a boat in dry dock outside of my window which is better than the bulldozers and construction equipment.

Breakfast was at CCP's office which is not across the street from the hotel. It is somewhat around the corner. Very close but not across the street. They have breakfast there and at eight thirty we trecked out to it. It turns out that breakfast is simple but fine. Bread, cold cuts, cheese, jams, oatmeal, and maybe some fruit. Oh, and hard boiled eggs. Bleh. I chose not to eat. Tomorrow, perhaps.

We had some stuff to deliver that we had muled over from other countries. Weird, regional sodas, and skincream and pastries. The normal stuff. We didn't quite get an office tour but I learned that reception is on the 4th floor and we did get to see the saltwater tank. Mike and Steve decided to drop the money to go do the volcano tour.

Sion, Corbexx and I decided to walk to some lighthouse far, far away.

We did see the monument. It seems that the grounds around it are nicer looking now. No, I didn't look for my name. The words are tiny and the plates are many.

We spent the morning walking and talking. Sion, in fact, did not try to convert Corbexx and I to Goonisem. In fact, its somewhat disturbing how strong some of the personalities are. We will have an interesting three days. So we walked and talked and walked some more. I took more pictures of just the landscape and water and mountains and interesting rocks. There is a mushroom in there and the benches were carved from complete logs split to make the seatback. We passed water fountains that are always running with icy cold water to sip.

On the way back I met another black and white kitty. Kitty was just walking the path to the lighthouse like anyone else. We stopped and had a good scratch and roll session to Sion's headshaking amazement and then once done, Kitty kept going off to take care of business.

It was around 1300 or so and we migrated back to get food. Corbexx remembers having a great burger with Two Step and CCP Fozzie two years ago but he did not remember where. I suggested he ask Fozzie but for some reason that was a dumb idea. Willing to try this dumb idea I asked CCP fozzie after we tried to randomly remember a name of a place from the past and poof, there it was, across the street from us.

Food accomplished I found the ice cream and crepe place I went to last time. There I acquired some hot chocolate and we chatted and wandered around. I got a bottle of water from the 10/11 store and we headed back to the hotel for the evening adventures which involve meeting at the office this evening.

Mostly walking and a lot of pictures and a lot of chatter. I have had a good chat with CCP Affinity and I should have some stuff to write up about my PvE little things that make me quite happy. And off to do things for the evening. The picture album should be updated. Some are still uploading. I'll finish up tonight.

  1. Glad you're enjyoing yourself!

You're in the hotel room next door to the room I was in my last trip (my room was one to the left of yours). I can tell just based on the angle of that boat dock.

Also, go to 10/11 and buy a bag of:

Get a bowl from the cantina and empty them into the bowl, then put the bowl near the door to the conference room. CCP dev catnip, I'm telling you.

    1. Heh, you took a big picture of the display so you've seen them. You don't have to eat them. ;-) But the devs love 'em.

  2. I'm entertained by the fact that you are ship spinning out of your bedroom window!

Maybe one day!

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

Conflicted

Halycon said it quite well in a comment he left about the skill point trading proposal for skill point changes. He is conflicted in many different ways. So am I. Somedays, I don't want to be open minded. I do not want to see other points of view. I want to not like things and not feel good about them and it be okay. That is something that is denied me for now. I've stated my opinion about the first round of proposals to trade skills. I don't like them. That isn't good enough. I have to answer why. Others do not like it as well. I cannot escape over to their side and be unhappy with them. I am dragged away and challenged about my distaste.  Some of the people I like most think the change is good. Other's think it has little meaning. They want to know why I don't like it. When this was proposed at the CSM summit, I swiveled my chair and asked if they realized that they were undoing the basic structure that characters and game progression worked under. They said th
