There is a possibility that I am not supposed to think of a Rorqual as the flagship of my fleet. Yet I have decided to. And with great delight I welcome Buttered Scone to my hangar.
This was when he was a plain Scone a moment before.
Moving straight to the point, Buttered Scone was a gift. I received an eve-mail with a contract link as a direct response to my blog post where I discuss the Rorqual as my dream ship. A contract written to me for a Rorqual. I messaged the person and immediately broke down into gibbering giggles while drooling and licking my own fingertips. It was quite the excited mess.
I went through the huge thought roller coaster I do whenever someone gives me a gift. Should I take it? Should I politely explain to them I don't deserve it? Should I snatch it before they realize they made a mistake? What to do? How do I handle this?
I decided to gracefully accept it. I can squeal and bounce up and down with elegance and serenity. Honest. Then I asked if it was okay for me to write about it. Then I worried about writing about it. Was it bragging? Would it seem weird? And after fretting for a bit I decided I was being stupid.
I was happy.
"Why a Rorqual?" someone will ask me. They may lay out all sorts of reasons based around the ships purpose, my usage potential, and the stats and state of the current meta that I don't care about. Maybe someone else would. But for me? Well...
"It has a Q in it's name." You see, I have a fondness for what I call 'odd' letters of the alphabet. They are letters that are not used with the regularity that I might enjoy. Q, X, Z's I love them. I don't know why but the first time I saw the Rorqual's name it was gorgeous. It sounded amazing, and it even transformed. An industrial capital ship. It seemed so incredibly bad ass that I latched onto wanting it. So there I was, staring at this amazing, weird looking ship with a Q in its name.
And how I wanted one. I'd feel little splashes of envy when other people undocked theirs. I had no idea what I would do with it. I can make jump clones, sure. But, I was never able to justify any type of sane reason to have one. The last time I almost pulled the trigger I stopped myself and used the ISk to start TCS. I was looking at them again when the industry changes were announced to see if I could find one on the cheap. I kept trying to justify it but I couldn't. And I really, really wanted to. After all, I got the skin for my mystery code off of my Collector's Edition. I had to get one now! Right? Right wallet?
Now I have one.
Eeeeheeeheee! :gibber:
Now, I can spin it in its hangar and dream of consuming asteroids like Unicron eats planets.

Full understanding here, my KB Maja is a beauty. Doesnt make sense, but I always wanted a Rorqual.
ReplyDeleteAhaha, you have a "fondness for 'odd' letters of the alphabet". That really made my day today to the point i had to put comment here. Great, youre just great fuuny person it seems :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes you’re bragging, gloating even. Own it. Embrace the smug. You owe it to the giver.
ReplyDeleteSans public happy dance, how else is your giver supposed get one over on the rest of us? They too deserve their own private smug.
DireNecessity
I prefer chortle.

ReplyDeleteCOMBAT FIT RORQUAL!!!
Ahem *runs away*
It even transforms like Unicron!
ReplyDeleteI am fond of "Z" myself...
ReplyDeleteIf I had a Rorqual I'd name it "Nostromo" because I think they remind me of the ship from the first Alien film. (please be sure to get it fumigated, you don't want any alien hitchhikers on there while you're flying around and processing ore.)
Hehe! Thank you for sharing your joy, Sugar, it helped bring a smile today. :)
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up. I like your quirky enthusiasm.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me about the mystery code. now I have to figure out what I am going to do with the bpc.... I have been wanting a qual, but I am still a couple months from being able to run one. Maybe a corpie will buy it off of me :). though I do actually want a qual. Though it would be more fun if I could get it into HS.... Yes, its a pipe dream, but it would be fun.
ReplyDeleteDrat you, Sugar! I blocked Rorquals out of my mind when I got Dread-mania, but now I fear I've had a relapse. Just gotta figure out where I'd park it.
