New Racial Module

Often I have been asked, "Sugar, we want more PvP. Please fix this."

Now, at first my thoughts where simple and followed paths such as, "How can I force people to PvP?" and meandering trails of, "Players make choices and some of those choices are refusing to PvP." But that was narrow minded and small. After all, I was asked to make more PvP.

That is how I came up with a new module.

The milkshake module will come in four racial editions. Each one can be used on any sub-capital hull. Capital ships already come inbuilt with a milkshake drive. Try it out and drop a captial in a system. The chances are high that they will be visited, quickly, by a wave of spaceships to engage in PvP.

But, sub-capitals have a problem and I believe that this is a strong solution that will bring greater flexibility and depth to combat. A ship that uses the Milkshake module need but enter space before all the other spaceships flock to them. The activation cycle will create a smaller grid called a, "yard" that is visible from anywhere in system.

The Milkshake module will come with a skillbook. There are NPCs that can directly teach you but they will have to charge. The size of the yard will be directly proportionate with the level that Milkshake is trained too.

One of the better things about this module is that it has a significant scaling factor that will allow for competitions among the racial milkshakes. The activation of two milkshakes in one yard will automatically create a competitive environment where the milkshake winner will receive all of the systems PvP. I feel that this is a very strong ability and the duration and effect of competitions will have to be monitored closely. The dynamics are flexible and should scale well from solo to fleet PvP.

This is a demo of milkshake PvP at a high level.

What do you think?

  1. I request, nay, demand, a sprinkles lowslot module to improve it's effect.

    1. That's actually a really good idea and maybe it can involve scripting?

So you can have various scripts suck as sprinkles, cherries, oreos? I'm also thinking that an overheating penalty should melt the whipcream causing a rapid decrease in the size of the yard during the length of overheating.

  2. I tried milkshake pvp, but it didn't go so well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Alxs0Eroo54

This gives me an idea. What about lighting off a cyno or setting up up a mobile scan inhibitor as bait? They are the most milkshakey things we have that I can think off.

  7. So a cyno that doesn't inhibit movement speed but creates a plex around the user (probably deactivates warp drive of user while active). It also has the ability to cause a 'system' warp to the user when activated.

  9. Very clever title...

But I'm not sure I got it... is this a "come at me bro" module?

A lot of people in EVE are reluctant to engage unless they think they have the upper hand. When someone says "come at me" people will stay away until they can ascertain what force they have, and make sure they have *more*.

This come at me bro dynamic exists already in RvB. But I think I haven't fully understood the racial aspect - or was that just par of the joke?

(I'm assuming this is both a joke and serious)

Maybe one day!

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

And back again

My very slow wormhole adventure continues almost as slowly as I am terminating my island in Animal Crossing.  My class 3 wormhole was not where I wanted to be. I was looking for a class 1 or 2 wormhole. I dropped my probes and with much less confusion scanned another wormhole. I remembered to dscan and collect my probes as I warped to the wormhole. I even remembered to drop a bookmark, wormholes being such good bookmark locations later. My wormhole told me it was a route into low sec. I tilted my head. How circular do our adventures go. Today might be the day to die and that too is okay. That mantra dances in the back of my head these days. Even if someone mocks me, what does that matter? Fattening someone's killboard is their issue not mine. So I jumped through and found myself in Efa in Khanid, tucked on the edge of high sec and null sec. What an interesting little system.  Several connections to high sec. A connection to null sec. This must be quite the traffic system.    I am f
