Sound the Horn of Jaguar

I'm gleeful at the moment so I shall write a Jaguar post. Come gather around the warmth of my hearth and listen to this tale with care. Of honey sweet tea and chocolate covered cakes this tale shall sooth you from the shakes.

I was on coms but I wasn't paying attention. Work weekends involve getting home, getting the dogs out, getting all the pets fed, making dinner, doing some basic chores, and being tired. The boys had taken out yet another fleet and gotten into a fight two systems over. An armor v shield brawl where the other side had logi and the boys did not.

It went poorly and they lost most of the fleet. The simple solution was to redock and go back out and deal with the problem. So, there they went, better balanced vs the fleet they were attacking and engaged again. However, the other fleet decided not to stay and they only managed to catch the Sacrilege. Only, it was much faster than everyone but the Ares who, for some reason, didn't have point.

I decided at that point to undock the Jaguar.

I pressed the button and launched into space. Towards the gate I warped, plunging into the cold depths of null. To the pounce I spun and geared up to land on the gate. At this point I realized that I had a scram on this Jaguar. I almost never use scrams on my Jaguars. What magic was this? Right place. Right time. Right spaceship. Oh yes.

They were still chasing this Sacrilege around. Kaeda tackled their boost alt but he was stabbed and warped away.

I tried to figure out how to warp to. I made a guess and landed 80k off of the Sacrilege. Okay! I burned in with full heat. I had a suspicion he'd not notice another flashy red on his overview. I bounced in, scrammed, and tucked in close.

Then he noticed me.

I can tank his hobgoblins all day. With no EC-300s to jam me we were going to become good friends.

With the smugness of a filthy blobber (for such was said in local) he died.

I then went and docked back up. Gotta finish dinner, let the dogs back out and go to bed. Work in the morning and all of that.

And that is how I preformed a random, hero tackle in a fleet I wasn't joining and barely knew what was going on with. I don't care about honor, bravery, cowardice, tactics, manhood, or blobbing. I heard a need, went to assist, took care of business, and went home. That's what makes my day, erryday. It was a moment about Jaguars.

The Jaguar

Jaguar! Jaguar! engines bright
In the darkness of endless night
What immortal pod or key
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant gates or space
Burnt the fire of thine trails?
On what points dare he aspire?
What the fleet dare seize and fire?

And What hull, and what prop mod,
Could twist the capacitor of thy heart?
And when thy warp gate began to bleet,
What dread turret? and what dread ammo?

What the scram? what the web?
In what turret was thy pod?
What the 150mm? what dread tackle
Dare its deadly terrors point?

When the fleet threw down their stabs,
And watered local with their tears,
Did she loot the wreck to see?
Did she who made the tackle make thee?

Jaguar! Jaguar! engines bright
In the darkness of endless night
What immortal pod or key
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

Comments

  1. The Jaguar was my first assault ship, and also my first "expensive" ship. That was a long time ago, in another life. Never forgot the first time I took it out though. Other hulls might be seen as better, but there's always been something a little more to Jag for me.

And this is now my favourite Eve related poem. Blake would be proud.

Maybe one day!

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

Conflicted

Halycon said it quite well in a comment he left about the skill point trading proposal for skill point changes. He is conflicted in many different ways. So am I. Somedays, I don't want to be open minded. I do not want to see other points of view. I want to not like things and not feel good about them and it be okay. That is something that is denied me for now. I've stated my opinion about the first round of proposals to trade skills. I don't like them. That isn't good enough. I have to answer why. Others do not like it as well. I cannot escape over to their side and be unhappy with them. I am dragged away and challenged about my distaste.  Some of the people I like most think the change is good. Other's think it has little meaning. They want to know why I don't like it. When this was proposed at the CSM summit, I swiveled my chair and asked if they realized that they were undoing the basic structure that characters and game progression worked under. They said th
