Where Have all the Battlecruisers Gone?

I was going to write something thoughtful. This is what happened instead.

Please sing to this song in your head:

Now, the Eve Version I just came up with on my lunch break.

Where Have all the Battlecruisers Gone?"

Fleet Warp in two three four

Oh you get me ready
With your fully fit heavies
Why don’t we go sit on this acceleration gate?
Take the gate when the point calls
Lasers switching to scorch
An explosion sweet as any good gank

I’ll do the logistics
You pay for the fuel
Where is my Hurricane?
Where is my Myrmidon?
Where is my Ferox landing?
Where have all the battlecruisers gone?

Why don’t you stay in this fleet
Kick back and watch the gate
And I’ll watch for a little something to gank
Ohh I know your wallet hurts
From working on the fleet doctrine
How many nerds do you want in this fleet?

I will do recruiting
You handle the roles
Where is my Hurricane?
Where is my Myrmidon?
Where is my Ferox landing? Where have all the battlecruisers gone?

I’m in my new battlecruiser tonight
But you called, you called for a cruiser fleet
Now I am docking
Now I am docking
Now I am docking

We finally sell the Cyclones
When we had a assault frigate comp
And you became an FC in null
You made friends out in sov
And you joined them at the bombers bar
Almost every single fleet call that came

I will fit the doctrines
While you kill all the things
Where is my Hurricane?
Where is my Myrmidon?
Where is my Ferox landing?
Where have all the battlecruisers gone?

Where is my Prophecy?
It shines so gold in the sun
Where is my lone Drake?
Where have all the battlecruisers gone?

  1. RIP in Pieces old Hurricane.

I'll try and console myself with the Typhoon class BC ^^

  2. I attribute most of this to changes in Faction Warfare. The limiting of battlecruisers to only the largest plex size during the overhaul put a very larger damper on their use.

    1. But we don't live in FW space and they are mostly gone. To much Nerf against everything's buff. They are no longer flexible and no longer worth their cost against other ships for so much in PvP. Mostly, now, I see missile boat BC only.

  3. I do live in FW space, and rarely see battlecruisers. I think though that to increased viability of T1 cruisers and cruiser gangs (think T1 logi and ewar cruisers) is the real culprit here. I keep a few BCs on hand for that very reason. Most small cruiser gangs won't take on a battleship, but they will engage a BC or two. Because there are less BCs out and about (or anything larger than a crusier), I feel much more confident undocking a BC of my own to fight outnumbered.

Well, that and the other reason I use them is that there always seem to be soft targets on gates and station undocks to shoot, and BCs generally stand up to sentry guns pretty well.

Maybe one day!

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

And back again

My very slow wormhole adventure continues almost as slowly as I am terminating my island in Animal Crossing.  My class 3 wormhole was not where I wanted to be. I was looking for a class 1 or 2 wormhole. I dropped my probes and with much less confusion scanned another wormhole. I remembered to dscan and collect my probes as I warped to the wormhole. I even remembered to drop a bookmark, wormholes being such good bookmark locations later. My wormhole told me it was a route into low sec. I tilted my head. How circular do our adventures go. Today might be the day to die and that too is okay. That mantra dances in the back of my head these days. Even if someone mocks me, what does that matter? Fattening someone's killboard is their issue not mine. So I jumped through and found myself in Efa in Khanid, tucked on the edge of high sec and null sec. What an interesting little system.  Several connections to high sec. A connection to null sec. This must be quite the traffic system.    I am f
