Dat Sec Change...

Some might assume that I would have run off and started to collect tags to adjust my security status up. I've been doing exploration instead. My security status does not personally bother me. It is one of those areas that I am more than happy for the initial gold rush to die down on. Also, I am a terrible ratter and the absolute worst person to go to when it comes to security status gains and measuring the change.

That is why I went to Vov.  Vov is my polar opposite in Eve. He is a ganker by choice (he is does solo and gang PvP as well and is a low sec resident). He is very well versed with the security status gain system and rats up his security status in null sec sot hat he can gank overloaded, under tanked T1 haulers on the weekends. He is a min/maxer and crunches numbers the say way I blindly wander around in a Jaguar taking pictures of the nebula.

Vov has been out in the belts looking for Tags4Sec. He's already developed a pattern that is bringing him in the tags that he needs and he seems pleased. So I asked him if things are better or at least okay still. He is not  getting the tags to sell. He is hoarding them for personal use.

One of the changes that came in with Odyssey was a change in security status gain. The 15 minute tick was changed to a steady 5 minute tick with no care for session changes. No longer does ratting for security status equal jumping into a system, killing the highest bounty NPC and heading to the next system. There was significant worry that it was a nerf to security status gain.

Vov's official statement:
Getting sec back in lowsec is actually viable now and I wont be forced to go somewhere I don't want to be (nullsec) for pvping in lowsec. It's a great change. Pre Odyssey if I wanted to continue to access hisec I had to stop pvp and go into an entirely different area that I didn't care for just to fix sec status. Now I can fix sec status without leaving lowsec, allowing me to enjoy the game much more."
I was stunned at his overwhelmingly positive review. He's been working on a slow roll burn out due to the constant fight to work on his sec gains. I noticed that he was back up over a -1. It is what caused me to ask how he liked the changes. He hasn't even started to use his tags yet and his security status is already improving in leaps and bounds without leaving low sec. Before the Tags4Sec NPCs and the tick changes a day worth of belt clearing in low sec would have done nothing for his security status.

Early reports are good. People are buying tags on the markets for ridiculous prices, allowing some people to soak up the easy, easy ISK of impatient people. There are belt wrecks in every system I go to. That never happened before. Now people are in the belts. Other people are chasing the people in the belts. The sky is full of exploration frigates.

While I do not believe that the currant numbers are an indicator of where things will settle down, I do believe that the indications are there that Tags4Sec will be a viable, thirsty market. I feel good about it. Good in the same way that I felt the first time I warped off a gate and came back to not have the gateguns reactivate. Its looking as if this has turned into an immediate, game improving change for residents of low sec that needed this type of option.

Now I just need the price of Hurricane Fleet Issues to come down.

Maybe one day!

[15:32:10] Trig Vaulter > Sugar Kyle Nice bio - so carebear sweet - oh you have a 50m ISK bounty - so someday more grizzly  [15:32:38 ] Sugar Kyle > /emote raises an eyebrow to Trig  [15:32:40 ] Sugar Kyle > okay :)  [15:32:52 ] Sugar Kyle > maybe one day I will try PvP out When I logged in one of the first things I did was answer a question in Eve Uni Public Help. It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

And back again

My very slow wormhole adventure continues almost as slowly as I am terminating my island in Animal Crossing.  My class 3 wormhole was not where I wanted to be. I was looking for a class 1 or 2 wormhole. I dropped my probes and with much less confusion scanned another wormhole. I remembered to dscan and collect my probes as I warped to the wormhole. I even remembered to drop a bookmark, wormholes being such good bookmark locations later. My wormhole told me it was a route into low sec. I tilted my head. How circular do our adventures go. Today might be the day to die and that too is okay. That mantra dances in the back of my head these days. Even if someone mocks me, what does that matter? Fattening someone's killboard is their issue not mine. So I jumped through and found myself in Efa in Khanid, tucked on the edge of high sec and null sec. What an interesting little system.  Several connections to high sec. A connection to null sec. This must be quite the traffic system.    I am f
