A Space Tuckers Saga

It is dark days now. The end is near and other frantic stations. Yet again, after a 30 jump trip from Jita I find myself camped out of low sec.

I had been running around in Stiletto mode. Weeeeeeee, interceptor go! Our fleet was not as productive as it could have been but it was a lot of fun and slowly I am used to being out in my interceptor. I get sent ahead a lot to grab things, provide warpins, and do general fast work. I can't say no and that is very good for me.

On the way back, to my horror, I discovered the store had run out of liquid ozone. I remember checking it a few days ago and my stock was fine. When Titus mentioned that I was out, I checked and saw that my liquid ozone had vanished pretty much right after it had been checked.

The only solution was an emergency run from Jita. My Orca was already stuffed with some Talos and a few other things I had collected. I shoved the rest of the nooks and crannies full of liquid ozone and burned my way to Bosena while I worked on this fiction project I hope to post in the next week.

My entire trip is quiet. My Orca has only a few hundred million worth of goods. Sugar is settled into the station and local is empty. Local is empty the entire length of the trip until my Orca lands on the gate. The moment it drops out of warp onto the gate and I ready my trusty, webbing Thorax, people enter the system.

Okay. I wait for them to go away. They don't. Sigh. After about ten minutes local empties again. My Orca sees a gatefire and a Ferox jumps into high sec. I hate this part a little bit. Some people warp off and some people see Orca on the gate and get excited.

The Ferox burns back to the gate and jumps back into Bosena. I know his alliance. They tend to travel in packs but local does not go up in Bosena or Teon. I decide to wait him out. He sits in Bosena local for a bit and then gatefire with my Orca. Perhaps he is bored? I am very busying playing 'afk Orca' at this point.

Again, he burns back to gate at regular speed and jumps back into local. I'm exasperated now. I undock my Thorax and sit on the station waiting for him to leave. I bitch on coms because I'm still there from roaming with 7-2.

"Maybe we should just kill him," says Brandobas.

I'm sitting on the station. He is not visiting the station to look at me.  For a third time he jumps into high sec, holds his cloak, decloaks, and burns back to the gate at regular speed and jumps into low sec. This time, Titus locals up in a Dominix. He is in a pounce and comes to the gate when Titus lands. He then yellow boxes Titus and deploys his drones.

Titus shoots him.

With his shields evaporating because gank fit shield Dominix at optimal range, he jumps into high sec. Brandobas shows up in a Tornado and I warp to the gate in my Thorax. With my Orca, I watch the Ferox hold cloak. He then burns back to the gate and bounces off of it. At some point he decides, "I'll do this," and jumps back into low sec.

The problem is that a Dominix, Throax, and Tornado are now on the gate. He holds his gatecloak. He decloaks and I burn for him. My Thorax is scram fit because it is my armor fleet Thorax and not a tackle ship. I reach him and point, double web as the Dominix and Tornado burn him down.

Now he is dead and the system clear for entry. I hop my Orca in and warp it to station for its delivery.

Liquid Ozone is very important and delaying its delivery may result in the unforeseen inconveniencing of capital ships. However, the true moral of the story is that low sec was made safe for marketeers once again.

  1. This is a most delightful tale of a ship kill...all for want of liquid ozone xD

  3. Idea: don't sit on the gate with a juicy Orca.

Instead, make a safe spot 2000km from the gate, aligned to the Magiko gate: Mgate --- safe --- Bgate. You warp to the safe spot, and align to Bosena gate. Since it's in the same direction, you'll be ready to warp soon. On the safe you can Dscan with 2200 km to see who is in gate while they don't see you. So you can wait in your safe, aligned while the gate clears up both sides without attracting people.

    1. If I did that it might not attract so many fights. We are stopping terrible Orca murderers before they strike.

In all seriousness local goes up when I am in warp. I am pretty gun shy about jumping my haulers in. High sec is not my worry. A gate pounce would be even more of a pain.

I can always go and redock if I do not like the HS gate or the system traffic.

It is even better knowing that its true, memoirs are always the most interesting to read. :)

Maybe one day!

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

Conflicted

Halycon said it quite well in a comment he left about the skill point trading proposal for skill point changes. He is conflicted in many different ways. So am I. Somedays, I don't want to be open minded. I do not want to see other points of view. I want to not like things and not feel good about them and it be okay. That is something that is denied me for now. I've stated my opinion about the first round of proposals to trade skills. I don't like them. That isn't good enough. I have to answer why. Others do not like it as well. I cannot escape over to their side and be unhappy with them. I am dragged away and challenged about my distaste.  Some of the people I like most think the change is good. Other's think it has little meaning. They want to know why I don't like it. When this was proposed at the CSM summit, I swiveled my chair and asked if they realized that they were undoing the basic structure that characters and game progression worked under. They said th
