Meta Tinfoil

I got a msg while at work asking, “Does THC2 convo spam?”
 “No.”
“Someone has accused Diz of it on reddit.”
 “Oh?”  I went to look.

I read reddit but I don’t comment.  I had seen the thread but I tend not to go to the ship/pod loss threads.  I have nothing to say in them.  Loss happens.  I don’t spend my time making judgment calls over fights I was not involved in based off of a loss mail.  It took me a minute to realize that that was the thread with Diz’s pod loss.  Oh. Okay.

Top comment with 9 upvotes is accusing us of being convo spammers.

Interesting.  I made a reddit account. I was all ready to say: “In the year that I have been with THC2 it has never been discussed, suggested, or ordered.  Considering the small size of our groups I am not sure how we are going to convo spam with 3-8 (maybe 10) people.”

I stopped myself before I hit send.  Heh.  Reddit is not a place that defending would work out well.  I had almost forgotten. At least I have a reddit account now.  Maybe I will use it. I enjoy reading reddit but I have had enough traffic flow through when people have linked blog posts that I am wary of stepping into that pool as more than an observer.  I just wrote the other day about picking and choosing my battles vs my energy.  I have energy to blog about it but not to engage in a comment up/down vote battle.

Of course, with convo spamming being illegal the tinfoil hat may say that I am not going to admit to wrong doing publicly   However, I didn’t know about convo spamming until the articles about it last year and the judgment that it was an exploit.  Being silly, I use convo requests to talk to people.  Sure, there is a chance that there is a massive conspiracy to not let me know that it is going on but considering that most of my corpmates don’t have any channel but fleet and corp chat on blink I’m rather comfortable saying it is not something we do.

  1. Not sure why people would be so interested in my losing a pod. It happens. As it was I was caught by surprise just after I had been caught by surprise by a place hot drop. So when I jumped my flashy noon ship into a frigate gate camp I knew I was in bad shape. Went to warp the ship off it popped warped my pod off and it died as I was in warp. Oh well it happens what ya gonna do. As far as THC Congo spamming people it just haters saying whatever they feel like just to spread some hate around. THC is to busy fighting to Congo spam

Memoirs - Part One: Virtual Worlds

Virtual Realities: Memoirs of an internet spaceship politician by Sugar Kyle CSM9, CSMX
This is where it really started. The day I lost my mind.

I never told anyone how long I had been debating my run for the ninth CSM. The thought started to circle in the back of my thoughts in November. I was back home after a sucessful Eve Vegas. I had met a few people. My notes from the presentations and round tables had gone over very well. I felt useful, comfortable, and excited that I was a member of the community. I belonged and I cared about this thing that I belonged to. That thing was the community of Eve Online.
Eve Vegas of 2013 was when I found out that a conversation I had been fortunate enough to have with CCP Masterplan at Fanfest of that same year, had sparked enough interest to gain developer attention. At Eve Vegas I learned that they would be working on ideas based off of the premise that I had presented. Only days later, a developer posted to the Offical Eve Online forums about i…

CSMX - Post #20

Summer is here and CCP is very much out of the office. Sion made a good point in wondering why everyone leaves Iceland when it has its best weather. What it means is that all is mostly quiet on the dev blog front. There are some things happening but the dev blogs and news announcements have not yet happened. The skill points were delivered on Tuesday so yay for unallocated skill points.

Over in CSM chat, there has been a lot of back and forth about sov and measuring the impact and success of things so far. I can say that CCP and the CSM are watching it. The pros and cons are coming in pretty hot and heavy. Some are being looked at now. Some have to see how things are going and if and how the direction needs to be tweaked.

In my corner, I'm starting to gather things together. The summit is in seven or so weeks. In between then and now I need to gather up my question list and write down a few topics of discussion. I'm starting now because I have personal vacation at the end of A…

The Charm of the Familar

With a few picked up a shifts at work due to the holidays. I pondered logging in but I didn't have the energy to do so. Being able to say no to logging in is pleasant. Just as my youngest puppy interrupts me every fifteen minutes to pee, going to sleep instead of staying up is also pleasant. I had a lot of short slept nights when I was active in a corporation.

My next plan has been to learn how to scan again. The new map is in and I need to refresh my scanning skills. My hold is full of probes. My ship appears to be reasonably set up. I remembered how to hit my F key to cloak. In fact, I hit it a bit to fast. I need to get the ebb and flow of the tic back down.

I am also rusty in my paranoia. I idly switch to another window to research breadbowls and the soup I want to make later. Then I remember I am sitting, decloaked, off of a gate somewhere. Whoops. I did figure out a breadbowl recipe and soup as well.

The question was where do I relearn to scan? I need somewhere off the beate…
