As part of my "I've reached a year blogging" and "I've written some fiction stuff and it's gone over pretty well" plans, I took the time to apply for Fansite status. I figured, after I laid down money to go to Iceland to sit and listen to people tell me about Eve I was hooked and going to stay that way for a bit.
Eve Online Fansites are all listed here. There is a submission section that lists the rules of things and then it goes off for a review. I needed to add the Copyright notice to my site upon the review and then, to my delight, I was accepted.
I feel all official and a bit warm and snuggly. I don't think that I qualify for guides just yet the few things I have written are so random. In general, I'm often envious of other blogs because they seem so polished and put together. Me? I'm chomping on skittles while giggling and typing random things. Well, not skittles everyday. I have tea today. But sometimes it is skittles. But not always. I like dried cranberries too.
I guess this makes me a nerd? It is one of those words that has metamorphosis into something that it is and is not. When I hear people use it, it sounds like an affectionate derogatory to me. Not really my taste but at the same time I will easily admit that I am a major Eve Fan and whatever label that brings with it may fit. My office is even in my basement.
I'm motivated to keep this. Not that I was not motivated before but I like how it feels. I don't know if I will ever become one of those cool, official blogs full of sense and deep insight. I'm kind of envious of them. It seems as if everyone else is so polished and put together. Oh well. There is a good chance that I will be to busy writing about dumpster fighting in mining belts or the progressive breeding patterns of the Laven/Naga hybrid (Laga?) instead of providing critical analysis to important things.
I will make sure that I continue to complain about how much early morning employment sucks on twitter. I don't wish to deprive anyone of that important contribution to twitter.
I do have another fiction project that I have started to make progress on after staring at it for most of the month. I sometimes fall into a very bad habit of wanting to write things in a linear manner. However, I write best when I write in an idea based manner and plant the ideas up and down the structure of the story and then fill in the blanks. This time, I actually caught myself and powered through the block so hopefully I will have something to present in a few weeks. Then, maybe, I'll try for something relaxed like a story a month and see how it goes from there.
