I Just Had to Chuckle

Sometimes things reach a special point of ridiculous and you sit there, going, this has reached the point of being overly amusing.

This morning I decided to trek my empty clone back home so that I could be productive. I would take it back when my jump clone timer cooled down and then jump clone home, leaving it down with 7-2 for easier movement.  I ran around did some PvE, did some Industry, cleaned my house, wrote some blog posts and in general had a pleasant day where I didn't do much.

This evening, with my jump clone timer almost cooled and space starting to warm up with bodies, I hopped into a shuttle and started to zip down off to 7-2 to leave the jump clone so that I could jump back up to home.

I have Sugar doing her jumps and I'm writing stuff in the other monitor.  I see a flash and look over to find myself sitting in my clone station.  I scratched my chin.  A moment before, I was in warp through a tunnel system.  This is a system without a station and a gate on each end.  I remember selecting jump the gate.  Maybe I had misclicked?  Obviously, I was dead and podded.  Had I zoned off sitting on a gate?

I looked at my combat log and saw that I had been killed by a Raven.  A Raven? What? In low sec?  This made my confused mind go, "Smartbombs?"  According to the kill mail yes, yes indeed.  In the middle of a dead Molden Heath system I had managed to be smartbombed by a Raven.

Unexpected.

I upgraded my clone and switched into a rookie ship.  As I talked to the boys, who were in another part of the system, other people popped up on other channels with the same puzzled air I had.  "I was just smartbombed by a Raven."  Two other people, as innocently as I, were just bouncing gates in shuttles or rookie ships when suddenly smartbomb.

Well now. I guess some of the new neighbors have new and different habits.  Our innocence has been ripped from us.

The boys were going to go and try to play with him when a wild fleet of thirty cruisers appeared and they chased them instead. The cruisers scared off the Raven who went to a safespot.  I decided to head out and see if I could make it through, this time in a rookie ship.

I wound up running through the wild fleet of cruisers and I was past the Raven's nest in free, clear space!  Yes!

Merrily I made my way to my destination.  When I was four jumps out I land in a system with a Rupture on the gate and an Exequror as well.  The Exequror looked like it was repping him.  Whatever.  He is doing his thing.  A Rupture isn't going to catch a rookie ship.  I go to warp off and suddenly I am pointed.  That, it turns out, was the sensor boosting effect that I saw not the repair one.  I waited for him to kill me and warped of my pod.

This has not been a very good trip for me.  I am down a shuttle and a rookie ship.  All in one day!  I bounced two jumps into high sec for another rookie ship.  I was then chased by a hurricane through two gates.  After that, I slipped past a drake and managed to make my way uneventfully to my goal.

Thankfully.

  1. This made me chuckle today, once you leave high security space, traveling, even in cheap ships not worth ganking can become an exercise in patience as it seems sometimes everyone else in game trys to prevent you from reaching your goal when all you want to do is go from point A to point B... sometimes I feel like that in RL on the road also heh...

Maybe one day!

It was a random question that I knew the answer of. I have 'Sugar' as a keyword so it highlights green and catches my attention. This made me chuckle. Maybe I'll have to go and see what it is like to shoot a ship one day? I could not help but smile. Basi suggested that I put my Titan killmail in my bio and assert my badassery. I figure, naw. It was a roll of the dice that landed me that kill mail. It doesn't define me as a person. Bios are interesting. The idea of a biography is a way to personalize your account. You can learn a lot about a person by what they choose to put in their bio

Taboo Questions

Let us talk contentious things. What about high sec? When will CCP pay attention to high sec and those that cannot spend their time in dangerous space?  This is somewhat how the day started, sparked by a question from an anonymous poster. Speaking about high sec, in general, is one of the hardest things to do. The amount of emotion wrapped around the topic is staggering. There are people who want to stay in high sec and nothing will make them leave. There are people who want no one to stay in high sec and wish to cripple everything about it. There are people in between, but the two extremes are large and emotional in discussion. My belief is simple. If a player wishes to live in high sec, I do not believe that anything will make them leave that is not their own curiosity. I do not believe that we can beat people out of high sec or destroy it until they go to other areas of space. Sometimes, I think we forget that every player has the option to not log back in. We want them to log

Conflicted

Halycon said it quite well in a comment he left about the skill point trading proposal for skill point changes. He is conflicted in many different ways. So am I. Somedays, I don't want to be open minded. I do not want to see other points of view. I want to not like things and not feel good about them and it be okay. That is something that is denied me for now. I've stated my opinion about the first round of proposals to trade skills. I don't like them. That isn't good enough. I have to answer why. Others do not like it as well. I cannot escape over to their side and be unhappy with them. I am dragged away and challenged about my distaste.  Some of the people I like most think the change is good. Other's think it has little meaning. They want to know why I don't like it. When this was proposed at the CSM summit, I swiveled my chair and asked if they realized that they were undoing the basic structure that characters and game progression worked under. They said th
