Concord Supported Stalking

Stalk your favorite PvPr with a bounty.  Fully Concord sanctioned and approved.  They will send you neat, time stamped notes that you can print out and frame around your favorite PvPr's portrait.

I managed to die a few times the other day.  The interesting part was that I received comments from two people that they had received Bounty notifications about my deaths.  Both people had placed bounties on my head.  For love and affection I have been told.  I am not bounty begging.  :P x10023 for anyone that thinks I am.  I am however amused that people are amused that they receive notifications when I explode.

Now you can track people you like with it.

Razor has amused himself endlessly with seeing random haulers lose their bounties to ganking.  That, I am sure, is providing much entertainment to many.  Now, however, it’s a certified stalking device.  Find out how often someone is turning into an explosion via a nice, neat notification from Concord.  Its not just for shiggles anymore.

I've not placed bounties on anyone.  I've barely made any ISK the last month and a half.  Spending it on the new bounty system is unappealing.  Yet, in general, the system seems to be a lot of fun for people.  It may not be in the ways that were expected, but the entire concept is a lot of fun and is sparking even more energetic reactions then expected.

The payouts are also funny.  Its amusing to get the random mail flashes as a fight goes down and the payouts happen.  I think my highest has been a mil and a half.  I've paid out 18mil of my 22 mil bounty between 2 ship loses to the people that killed me.  I hope people feel like they are getting their moneys worth.

There is still a lot of discussion on the whys of bounties.  Even in the new player discussion I read a thread where someone struggled over the concept of 'because' and wanted to pin it down into the neater lines of right and wrong and good and bad.  Even when you take away the fear people have when a bounty is placed on them, it is still not about right or wrong or good or bad.

Its about personal decisions and reasons.  Personal motivation does not wrap itself up neatly and tuck itself into another persons morality.  And its about opening up the thoughts.  The bounty system is a tool.  It may be a tool for Retribution according to CCP but for the rest of us, its another toy in the sand.

  1. Actually, this kind of tracking does not seem to work very reliably, at least, I know the total amount of bounty on certain people has reduced, while I, having pitched in to their pool, haven't gotten any notifications.

Watching the killboards for their name seems to work better, even considering the delay. :)

    1. yeah, kill boards are more reliable but not so giggly sometimes.

    2. Guess I don' tell you anything new but it feels like it belongs here.
You only get a notification if YOUR bounty was used. If you spread your lovely 100k to every player you meet you fill get some notifications but if that guy (or girl) has a few million on his head it might take some time until your "donation" is used. Would be interesting to know after which system that works.

Random shuffel? or is there some order in who's paying for that kill. Maybe you find the opportunity to do some research? ;-)

    3. I suspect it's last in first out, actually, i.e. the newest placed bounties get used up first. At least, I know there's a character I was the first to put a bounty on, because it was zero at the time. I placed a million, a day later he had about 200 million on him. A week later, it got reduced to about 130 million, and I never got a notification.

Memoirs - Part One: Virtual Worlds

Virtual Realities: Memoirs of an internet spaceship politician by Sugar Kyle CSM9, CSMX
This is where it really started. The day I lost my mind.

I never told anyone how long I had been debating my run for the ninth CSM. The thought started to circle in the back of my thoughts in November. I was back home after a sucessful Eve Vegas. I had met a few people. My notes from the presentations and round tables had gone over very well. I felt useful, comfortable, and excited that I was a member of the community. I belonged and I cared about this thing that I belonged to. That thing was the community of Eve Online.
Eve Vegas of 2013 was when I found out that a conversation I had been fortunate enough to have with CCP Masterplan at Fanfest of that same year, had sparked enough interest to gain developer attention. At Eve Vegas I learned that they would be working on ideas based off of the premise that I had presented. Only days later, a developer posted to the Offical Eve Online forums about i…

CSMX - Post #20

Summer is here and CCP is very much out of the office. Sion made a good point in wondering why everyone leaves Iceland when it has its best weather. What it means is that all is mostly quiet on the dev blog front. There are some things happening but the dev blogs and news announcements have not yet happened. The skill points were delivered on Tuesday so yay for unallocated skill points.

Over in CSM chat, there has been a lot of back and forth about sov and measuring the impact and success of things so far. I can say that CCP and the CSM are watching it. The pros and cons are coming in pretty hot and heavy. Some are being looked at now. Some have to see how things are going and if and how the direction needs to be tweaked.

In my corner, I'm starting to gather things together. The summit is in seven or so weeks. In between then and now I need to gather up my question list and write down a few topics of discussion. I'm starting now because I have personal vacation at the end of A…

The Charm of the Familar

With a few picked up a shifts at work due to the holidays. I pondered logging in but I didn't have the energy to do so. Being able to say no to logging in is pleasant. Just as my youngest puppy interrupts me every fifteen minutes to pee, going to sleep instead of staying up is also pleasant. I had a lot of short slept nights when I was active in a corporation.

My next plan has been to learn how to scan again. The new map is in and I need to refresh my scanning skills. My hold is full of probes. My ship appears to be reasonably set up. I remembered how to hit my F key to cloak. In fact, I hit it a bit to fast. I need to get the ebb and flow of the tic back down.

I am also rusty in my paranoia. I idly switch to another window to research breadbowls and the soup I want to make later. Then I remember I am sitting, decloaked, off of a gate somewhere. Whoops. I did figure out a breadbowl recipe and soup as well.

The question was where do I relearn to scan? I need somewhere off the beate…
