Conquering Personal Demons

I went out to shoot some of my internal demons in the face with autocannons.

I was bored to a certain extent yesterday. The boredom was aggravated by loneliness. My new schedule has descyned me with everyone for the week days. Plus, when everyone is on, its still all ATX all the time. So, after being insulted by random people in Gevlon's chat room who take my lack of arguments as a lack of intelligence, I decided to go occupy myself.

The other day I accepted an invite to go run level 4s. I decided I'd run them in my Jag since the person was more looking for company and newer players. A few times, with spawns, I found myself tanking the room in my jag. I just popped on my tank and speed tanked the room. I never got past half shields.

This event made me go, hmm... maybe I can do this now. After all, I've been playing for seven months, I have a logistics 5 character and I can do some plexs alone. Also, I expected there to be more ships in the missions. I remember there being more ships when I was new. However, we did the Angel Extravaganza and I was not overly impressed with the number of ships.

I think the level 5 missions have skewed my perspective.

I invited someone that I chat with and nearby to come fleet with me. I warned them that I had zero idea of what I was doing and not to trust me as a fleet commander or a tank. He said he understood. With that out of the way, I bounced Sugar and Chella up to the .06 high sec mission systems of Molden Heath.

Chella has an Oneiros up there. While Sugar purchused and fit yet another Hurricane, I sent Chella off to find and bring back my Noctis. It's been sitting about 6 jumps away for 2 months now. If I start doing these with any regularity, it will be useful to have again. I may have to tribox and stick my scout into it (I just stopped to check about that and she can fly one with the Ore Industrial Skillbook. Win).

Once I got fit and setup, I went to the first of the 2 level 4 mission agents there. That agent offered both Sugar and Chella low sec missions one after another. I declined the ones I could, rolled my eyes and went to the other agent. Once I got my missions, like a pro I pulled up eve survival and tried to figure out if I could tank the mission.

My end decision was, "Probably" which sounded good to me. I undocked, got everyone coordinated, and dropped Sugar into the mission. With aggression pulled I dropped in logistics and called for the fleetmate to come join. Then the mission was over.

Okay... so we did another one that was longer. It had 3 gates and a multiple spawns. Beyond having to buzz around the board some, it was also not a problem.

So, with two simple missions I put a bullet between the eyes of my greatest demon. Level 4 missions.

  1. I'm sorry you ended up with bad experience on my channel. Please understand that in 99% lack of arguments means lack of knowledge, intelligence or effort.

    1. I didn't have a bad time, I was amused. If feeling superior makes them feel better, better for them. I've improved their day.

I'll admit, the market discussions are not interesting to me but I'm reading them and trying to learn about them. Just as I have been back reading your blog to pick up that information and make better choices.

My laid back, idle chat style does not fit well with some of the serious market types. Oh well :D

The Charm of the Familar

With a few picked up a shifts at work due to the holidays. I pondered logging in but I didn't have the energy to do so. Being able to say no to logging in is pleasant. Just as my youngest puppy interrupts me every fifteen minutes to pee, going to sleep instead of staying up is also pleasant. I had a lot of short slept nights when I was active in a corporation.

My next plan has been to learn how to scan again. The new map is in and I need to refresh my scanning skills. My hold is full of probes. My ship appears to be reasonably set up. I remembered how to hit my F key to cloak. In fact, I hit it a bit to fast. I need to get the ebb and flow of the tic back down.

I am also rusty in my paranoia. I idly switch to another window to research breadbowls and the soup I want to make later. Then I remember I am sitting, decloaked, off of a gate somewhere. Whoops. I did figure out a breadbowl recipe and soup as well.

The question was where do I relearn to scan? I need somewhere off the beate…

CSMX - Post #20

Summer is here and CCP is very much out of the office. Sion made a good point in wondering why everyone leaves Iceland when it has its best weather. What it means is that all is mostly quiet on the dev blog front. There are some things happening but the dev blogs and news announcements have not yet happened. The skill points were delivered on Tuesday so yay for unallocated skill points.

Over in CSM chat, there has been a lot of back and forth about sov and measuring the impact and success of things so far. I can say that CCP and the CSM are watching it. The pros and cons are coming in pretty hot and heavy. Some are being looked at now. Some have to see how things are going and if and how the direction needs to be tweaked.

In my corner, I'm starting to gather things together. The summit is in seven or so weeks. In between then and now I need to gather up my question list and write down a few topics of discussion. I'm starting now because I have personal vacation at the end of A…

TCS: Sugar's Non-Technical Guide to Her Low Sec Market

Gevlon shocked me by featuring my store in his blog, yesterday. My entire project has been something I mostly scraped together and have bumbled through to the best of my ability and sense. Early on, I started a naming dynamic to my posts so that people could avoid the blogs about the store. These blogs are titled TCS. Also, if you search for TCS those particular blogs are available.

I decided to create a more cohesive naming strategy because someone said, “I don’t know how interested your readers will be in your market posts.” I didn’t either. I wasn't going to not write them because I write about whatever interests me. It seemed that a naming convention would correct the situation. However, I’ve started to receive a trickle of eve-mail and e-mail about what I am doing. Sometimes people ask me for advice on how to approach their own low sec market or what they should pick and choose or just how to pick and choose.

Cheradenine Harper asked me about moving forward into the wider mark…
