Pew Pew? Ouch

I've been collecting drone minerals for someone of late. The super low sec Noctis makes a tedious task productive all of a sudden. I've also started working on scanning. We'll see how that goes. Beyond, life has been uninterested for the past few days, mostly because I have been at work. However, this evening while I was wandering around the belts looking for a decently sized belt rats to shoot at, one of my corpies dropped in on me and whooped my ass. I had a vague feeling he was about to do it so surprised, I was not. Since I was in a frigate he was gentle. He just drained my cap and left me floundering, unable to flee, and beat the fuck out of my shields. You have to be careful, playing with frigates, they pop easily. He was also in a Sleipnir . I ran off as soon as he let me go and licked my wounds. At that point some random ass dude hopped in system in a Punisher and started to look for me. I realized that I wasn't fit for a PvP fight. I nee

Isk and the Future

Last night I also managed to tip 3bil isk. Losing my Noctis and 2 ruptures over the weekend were a minor setback I wasn't interested in having. However, shit happens and you make more isk and buy more ships. However, after the weekend of productive roaming and finally getting some final blows on things I realized that I was short term goalless. I putter around in my Rupture but I don't do a lot on field outside of tackle. Tackling ships is super important but I'd like to feel like I was wanted on the field to fuck shit up sometimes as well. Then I remind myself that my PvP toon just turned 3 months old. However, I have worked quite hard to craft her into a solid, useful toon with a good base skill set. Lamenting my woes to my CEO he gave me a hurricane fit and told me to get into that ship now, and then max skill everything about it. Once I did that, he said I was set to learn whatever the hell else I wanted to learn and figure out. Hurricane now and I can s

House Keeping

One reason that Eve wins is that player can spend lots of time doing things that are not directly, immedately productive and these things can oftne take a lot of cordination to happen. Everything isnt about playing pewpew games with NPCs or Players. Sunday was pretty dead. Normally it is super busy. However, FanFest was over the weekend and a lot of people were on to watch the streams. Sunday just felt like a tired day for everyone. We had stuff to move around to build ships and things to collect. My CEO roped me into salvaging 3 drone level 5's for the minerals that drones drop. They are faster to do then mining and produce a ridiculousness amount of ore when the minerals are refined. It is so bad that CCP is thinking of nerfing the drone minerals and place bounties on them instead to give a buff to miners. Miners are out produced by people who shoot NPC drones. It's really very sad. We also had jump freighters to move around. That means popping cynos.

Kaboom, Pop, Whoops

I managed to lose two Rupture's and get podded today. Writing up the battle reports is exhausting, oddly enough. The worst part is that I know with my inexperience they are pretty half assed commentaries. However, they were all at different places. The podding was my fault, I should have made the run through high sec instead of null. A system I hopped into that we had just been through was now bubbled all to hell. I got dragged into one and nailed. That made my life a lot easier because my clone is where I wanted to go. The start of the night was a cruiser fleet. T1 shield cruisers across the board. The goal was to go and get into a fight more so then to go an survive. We moved through systems pretty quickly but it took a while to get a fight. Most people saw our numbers and docked up without realizing that we were a T1 fleet full of Ruptures, Vexors, an Osprey running our Logi and some Blackbirds. It was hysterical. The first thing we found was a frigate at a cy

Pirate v Pirate?

When a fight goes good and bad at the same time it makes for an interesting night. The side effect of roaming is that you are not in your home system. However it is one of the way you get fights. My goal for the weekend was to get some decent kills and up my killboard stats and look like I had a clue as part of the corp. I don't mind having the lowest killboard status but I don't want to just look like an ornament hanging around. The end result was several fights and a mild attempt at ransoming us in a station in a strange system. Fight One: There was a decision to go after a corp that had just returned to the area or our war targets. We decided on the corp because they were acting a bit funny around my corps home system. I had the idea that they were scouting us out and hoping to bait us out to hunt them down. Being new to the corp and the area and the game in general I am often caught up in ancient distastes. People have been playing this game for a lon

Play Time

People play in Eve as much as they do any other game. When I played City of Heroes people would spend endless time dancing and doing little idle actions as they stood around a main area chatting. In eve, we are in ships. That does not stop us from being social and sometimes being very silly. I was hanging out in our blue corps system when I noticed a Kesteral hanging over the station that was neutral to me. I went to inspect it and was told to leave it alone because it was a cyno alt. No problems. The cyno went up so I started to circle it. Some of the guys undocked and we started playing orbit games. Then they started undocking everything under the sun to 'stretch it out'. It's a pleasure to just play around sometimes. After all, internet space ships are serious business.

One of those skill training moments

It is one of those moments, when every toon is working on a several day skill that you want to hold your head and scream 'it will never finish' although you know better. I've been working on cruisers V and it will be done in six days. I feel like a kid waiting for something. Six days is suddenly such a long time. Plus, I have another two weeks on top of that for two other skills to get to V before I'm in my Logi. I bet that my life will not suddenly change, just because I get my logi. However, it seems like it will. I will hopefully be able to get in on incursions and suck isk until they are nerfed. The positive side to it is assault frigates. Ever since I got into assault frigates, I've been going out and ratting in the low sec belts more. I'm still a bit leery of null. I feel a bit more capable in them and frankly they are better ships. My Jaguar and I have been chewing away at my sec status much better then my Rupture and I managed to. S

NERF

Nerfing is an entire thing among itself when it comes to games. To NERF something is to soften it up, change it, downgrade it from deadly to less deadly or tame or fuck it up completely depending on how it is done. That is why this article from news.yahoo.com amused me. It was even cuter when they referenced MMOs near the end. From: 5 things you didn’t know about Nerf A stalwart of toy store shelves for over four decades, the soft, safe foam of Nerf has proven a huge boon to indoor active play, saving countless fragile ornaments from being smashed to bits by kids who ignore the whole "don't play ball in the house" rule. But who came up with the squishy stuff in the first place? What's the best Nerf gun around? And just where does that strange name come from? Read on, and find out. What does Nerf mean, anyway? Styled in Hasbro's trademarks as "NERF," this monosyllable is actually an acronym. And tempting though it is to think up creative guess

Vanity Kill mails and Quafe Iterons

People are often puzzled, and these are people that play eve, about how PvP oriented Eve is. I often listen/watch (however you wish to define a chat room) as people attempt to give rhyem or reason to why people blow up ships in high sec. The reason 'just because' just eludes them. It is not about the isk or the reputation sometimes people do it just to. Hence, when CCP introduced the Iteron Mark IV Quafe Ultra Edition it became an instant focus of vanity kills. People in Eve collect things. There is a huge market for legacy items that are no longer produced in the game. CCP hands out special ships for lots of random reasons and they only make a few of these. Some, such as the above Iteron for fanfest will introduce thousands into the game. However, thousands are not a lot and in Eve once something is blown up it is blown up and never replaced. So now vanity kills are in. I saw this particular killboard link for a Quafe Iteron and shook my head over someone fl

Errand Girl

I got offered an errend to pick up faction loot tonight. My CEO, a firm beliver in le lazy and da slacker mode of lifestyle was not in the mood to renew the contracts on stuff that wans't selling. He decided to drop it all in the corp hanger and asked me if I'd go and nab them. For some reason I like hauling. Its oddly productive. Really, its the same reason I like mining. So, I jumped to it. The two runs ment a trip to Jita and a trip to Rens. Also, along the way he decided he wanted some Medium Trimark Armor Pump II. On the way to Jita I was side tracked to help chase down a small gang. We chased them through three systems and around the third for about twenty minutes. They were a Hawk, Hurricane, Rupture, and Drake. They *ran* from us. A Drake and a Rupture. Now, truth was we had a Machariel to drop on them on the other side of the gate depending on how they engaged. However, we couldn't get them to engage on a Drake and a Rupture. It was very sad

Future Attitude?

My Noctis hanging out on a gate waiting to come into the room where I'm killing stuff. CCP changed the engine trails from blue to orange and that has me bitterly dissapointed. Eve is so full of flavors and personal decisions. As always, I wander a bit sideways in mine. I was listening to the Oneiros getting bashed as a logi ship. I was proud of myself for biting my tongue. I'll skill into mine and be amazing when we run armor fleets. There is so much flavor of the month and 'what we always use' on Eve that I want to grit my teeth and growl now and then. I find that some of the irritation comes not from someone disagreeing with my choice, for I surely do not agree with each choice that they make, but the under current of arrogance that only what they are doing can be useful and that a newer character skilling into one aspect is not good enough to be worth the time. Maybe that is why I blog to myself a bit. A reminder for later, when I'm an arrogan

Oh CCP, Why are you making my computer suffer?

The launch of CCP's new launcher is just becoming a pain in the ass. Today, my lovely gaming machine that normally eats processor hogs for breakfast started vomiting all over the eve client. I had to drop my graphics settings on one client to free up processor room. It seems to be a familiar problem. I know they need to tweak the launcher more but it is damn annoying all the same. Beyond that, I am back home and happy about it. I'm exhausted since my time is in the wrong zone but that just means its a perfect time to wander around and do silly things. I tried some pewpew but the guy docked to fast. I've mostly been salvaging and making isk. Having finally gotten my standings over a 7 I pulled my first level 5 mission ever. Yay me. We will do it later today I think. Right now I'm jsut readjusting myself, dealing with jetlag and selling teh salvage from my level 5 missions as well as the backlog from my level 3's. In the background in Rens, some guy i

Fitting Ships

The trailers and such for Eve are full of beautiful scenes of space and lovely ships. That is three of us orbiting each other while we wait to jump into a fight and kill someone. Orbiting can be quite pretty when well done and look like dancing. Of course, when fitting a ship it looks more like this: I fitting my wolf, which is an assault frigate. I have the fit up, the wolfs fit window up, and the windows where I am getting the mods open. I discovered I needed to up one mod to another level which meant 3 hours. All told, its almost finished. I have to go and turn some regular ammo into faction amo.

Liquid vs Nonliquid Value

I tend to gauge my value on my isk in my main toons wallet. My alt has a few hundred mil in her wallet, but I leave that for her to do things like buy her own ammo. I've been hovering around 2.5 bil for a few weeks now. Up and down and around it. After refitting my Myrm I plunged down to about 4.873 which really upset me. I dragged it back to 2.497 for a while and then sat there. Then I started doing missions in an effort to finally crack down and get my standing with Republic Fleet over a 7. Its been misery. The value for the time is pathetic. I make around 1mil a mission in the end. Sometimes less, now and then more, but rarely. I've completed three storyline missions in that time. That's a lot of freaking missions I've done since it is 16 missions for each storyline. It makes me want to vomit in a corner. Anyway, it leaves me feeling relitlvey valueless and useless and bad at Eve. I deffenetly consider my ability to have to do with how much isk I

War, Missions, and Not Caring

About two days ago, the war dec was pulled. I had heard that there was some discussion going on about it. Negotiations or diplomacy or something vague such as that. Then, the other corp had the wardec pulled and two days later ours was pulled. About four hours later, they rewarded the first corp and last night us again. I can only roll my eyes over it. My opinions are my opinions on the entire thing and I think the entire thing is ridiculous. All three corps live in low sec and in the same part of low sec only a handful of jumps from each other (read that as 3). During the war dec the corps still group up together to kill other enemies. I am not privy to running the corps or being on their special channels. The funny thing is that I had someone threaten me idly with a wardec elsewhere. I was giving them some information that they requested. The wardec came up and they said they'd have to wardec my corp to make sure we were not interrupting their supply chain. I

Fucked up update, A little bit of missions, a little bit of isk

When I tried to log into my blog, Blogger decided I wanted it in German because I am in Europe. Nice of it. My German is a bit rusty, I will admit. Also, I wonder why I get so many hits from Russia. It's fascinating me. I've been working on my Republic Fleet standing to get it to a 7 so that I can pull level 5 missions. Well, I can't say I've been working on it because I haven't done a thing to help it in about two weeks. Curled up in my hotel room, exhausted from my lack of sleep and lovely English head cold, I decided to work on that some. My 2 myrms and my Oneiros had been delivered a few days ago by my builder buddy. I forgot how much it costs to fit a ship. It took me two days to find enough of the type of gun that I wanted at a correct price. Someone had a stack for sale at a trade hub for 4.5mil. The guns are only about 200k a pop. As I was typing this the daily shutdown happened. When I attempted to run the 'new eve launcher' a

Intel

One of the things I love about Eve is its intel. As a large, social game on one server the flow of information is constant and very useful and valuable. When someone shows up in local a quick glance gives you a lot of information. A quick web search brings up killboards. Even if they don't post their killboard the chances are the people that they fight do, so the information is there. The in game chat channel system is flexible and fluid. Enough so, that most groups and areas have layers and layers of chat rooms just for sharing information. Information is dropped in to be gleaned and gathered by others. Just because there are no ships in a system does not mean that everyone in local is afk. In fact, often times they are not. They may be passing your information on to others ahead of you to prepare to get out of your way or ambush you. When you are in a fleet you send someone in first to see what is there. However, that does not have to happen for people to find o

Bios

Like all games Eve gives you the ability to personalize your little animated figure with a biography where you get to put all sorts of interesting things. Bios are random. Sometimes there is not one, sometimes they are awful. Many times they become places to hold amazing quotes and amusing links. The ones that make me scratch my head the most are the ones that are a list of damage type information. Eve has a notepad that you can use. Its a great place for storing details and information to access. For some reason, however, people put it in their bio. There are many reasons for this. Some are lazy and clicking on their own name is easy. For others, its used as a way to make people think they are mission runners and not PvP types. For others, I don't know. Its one of those random, weird thing in the game I guess.

Breakfast explosions

I woke up at 0830 again local time. My trusty breakfast of Japanese rice balls accompanied me as I logged on and was convinced to come out in my rupture and do a little bit of roaming. There was a gatecamp in a nearby system that they decided to breakup. About half the group was near the system and the rest of us ran to the titan to hotdrop. It was not a big fleet, about seven of us to their 6. We had a mix of battleships, battlecruisers, cruisers, and a logi. They had battleships and battlecrusiers. They even had a smartbombing Tempest . They were baited and engaged. Once everyone engaged we popped the cyno and landed. This is where things got a bit awkward. We didn't spread our points like we were supposed to. I think that the call on the tempest got people distracted. One of our bait ships popped as we landed and when the cyno lit the camp started running for the hills. The only weird part is that we fleeted with a member of the corp that has wardeced both o

Laptops and PvP

I have a very nice alienware laptop. it is the M14X. Its pretty damn fantastic and plays Eve well. But, I admit that I am spoilt by my huge gaming monster with my duel 27 inch monitors. That means I've slacked about setting up my laptop to actually play. The last time I really played on it I was mining. Now I'm not mining anymore but my PvP character has nothing set up. I corrected that today. After a kinda fail day trying to get some stuff done in London I decided to hang out on Eve while my body recuperated from walking the city. I'm super tired as I write this. I was convinced to log into teamspeak and come help take out two ships. I slipped into my armored rifter to do some tackling and went to join in the fun. I quickly failed at everything because half the people were on comes and several in chat and it just didn't work out at all. So, I loaded up team speak, dug my headset which I had dragged with me, and went out with them. Second try: much

CSM Voting

It turns out that my hotel internet is great which means I can play Eve. After all, why else would someone go to another country? Besides the amazing food. However, I feel like babbling as I gorge. Anyway, I did some CSM Voting on my accounts. I'm up in the air about the entire purpose of the CSM. It seems to be a fueled power trip of egos for the most part. I'm leery of how much CCP actually cares. I'm amused that we have a political system in the game. Anyway, I don't actually like any of the candidates. I expected that. My game perceptions are based off of me being new and my living in low sec. The major players are carebears or nullsec sov types. Low Sec is again, the games gutter that no one wants us to be in. I've read a lot of the CSM ranting aka debates and reasons on the forums while I was at work over the last few weeks. I have not developed a like for many. The opinions are so, incredibly self centered and beyond the scope of global g

Jaguar

I got a Jaguar . It is an assault frigate. The goal is to do some of the low level frigate complexes in low sec for some fresh isk. I need to play the game more, as in make isk outside of high sec and work on my skills. It is cute. I got to raid the corp hanger to fit it out although I had to buy it (24mil) and its rigs (2mil). I loaded them into my wonderful Viator and ran down to drop them off at my station. I got help with the fit for it. I feel very special with my T2 guns and faction ammo. I am about to head out on a trip so my postings may or may not be erratic for the next ten days. I can only live without Eve but so long, so we will see how it goes.

Viator

It almost sounds like vibrator and frankly.... (One wonders what they are thinking sometimes when they design these ships...) I love this thing. The cloak on the go is incredible. Its fast. If I had fewer expanders and nanoed it it would be even faster. I ran around my system for a bit and practiced it on the move before I took it out of low sec to move some stuff around. It's fast in warp. Docking up to a station and uncloaking a moment before docking is fantastic. I have to practice my jump/cloak/mwd thing going on but we're getting the hang of it. Right now I am doing an align -> mwd -> cloak -> warp situation when getting off the gates. This is my first T2 ship. I love it.

Horrible in its truth

Social Butterfly is Social

Instead of hiding in the station I wandered out and made new friends in high sec through whoring on someone elses mission. This turned out to be a nice, productive thing and took me to an area that I've not hung out before. My corp has a corp that we are blue with. When I got home, everyone in corp was logged off. I understand this, its a Monday morning and I'm the one with the crazy schedule. My latest goal has been to chat up the morning people that wander through my corps home system. Today, one of the guys that I see every morning talked back. It turns out that he is Russian. So we had a little chat, and I made sure to use proper grammar and sentence structure to give Google translate an easier time for him. Why I am doing this, I dunno. I like it I guess? I hope they don't hold future gankage against me. I was excited today. I finally can use small, T2 weapons. I feel special. I had a vague conversation which I bowed out on, in one of my chatrooms tha

I was a brilliant explosion

I was discussing risk aversion earlier in the afternoon before I exploded. I constantly see it flung out when someone debates a fight and makes a decision not to engage in it. It seems that for some pewpew is a very technical thing and for others it is just getting into a fight, irregardless of the potential outcome. I was bored and spinning my ships. Needing to go to work it was not worth my time to try to find something productive to get into. Instead, I went to explore the new POS our new member has put up so that he can research stuff. I asked a ton of questions about the POS and buzzed around in one of my rifters that I was needed to take up to high sec and rig since I only had one rigged rifter in low. I figured dropping it off at my high sec hanger to be fit would be a productive activity. "I have a drake tackled," pops up in the channel. It is in the next system. We go from bullshitting to full hunt mode in about two seconds and everyone peels over there

Killboard Envy

I was super board and I looked at the corp kill board while I was at work. I wish I had not. Gods. They found a wormhole into deep null sec and they went and had a shitload of fun tangling with the null sec corps and even took down a Bhaalgorn . Gah, I'm envious. That envy surprised me. When had I tipped from excited fear to envy and longing? I am sure the long, boring ass night at work did not help a thing. However, I was surprised at my own reaction. If they had been logged in when I got home I would have had a temper tantrum of jealousy. :) I don't expect my kill board to be much of anything this month. I guess it will depend on what I catch when I'm online.

Wardec

I logged in with an evemail on each account. I was a bit puzzled. While wildly popular, I do not often get Evemail, much to my sadness. One of the other pirate corps wardeced us. We fly with them and we shoot at them and they at us all of the time. It seems that the relationship has always been a level thing. So, when the war dec came in I wondered what had happened. It seems that they are unhappy that when they pewpew with us they have to deal with gate/station guns since they are all flashy red. We stay yellow because being flashy red is inconvenient. Therefor, the wardec is to level the playing field, per them. I was going to comment how we are not technically 'pirates' or 'outlaws' because we stay above flashy red. However, this kind of defines it for me. We're a low sec PvP corp. We are called pirates. Hmmm. At first I had a rush of 'oh shit'. Then I realized I didn't care. I'm cautious of them anyway and never hang

Time and Grind

Today this image posted as a link from Jester Trek , I understand. I'm not there yet, but the it is a ride. In teasing one person I managed to to ignite a nice little battle full of people misunderstanding everything. Sometimes social gaming can be exhausting. In the background I am grinding for Sister's of Eve so that I can sell probes from the Loyalty point stores. I'm doing courier missions because I really do hate security missions that much. So much, in fact, that I will gladly fly this penis around. It was an odd day full of lots of misses. I ground my sister's of eve faction status up to level 3 distribution missions, only to discover that the best agent for what I wanted to do was 17 jumps away from where I normally am. Then, I had to buy a hauler to do the missions with. I managed to miss out on a carrier kill. My kill male whoring is a level III it seems. I probably need at least a IV. The carrier tried to run away and log out t

Banhammer and Botting

If you have ever played a MMO you have seen people who use macro 'bots' to build up hoards of items or in game currency. Some of them then sell these things online for real money to people who want but do not have. Of course, every game fights this. CCP came down with the ban hammer today on the bots. The players are happy but they also feel as if it is just a pre-fanfest ploy. However, fanfest propaganda or not, it is good to see them banned. The question is how many? Many that complained had 2-10 accounts botting for them. There was a server drop of 10k people. So many? Holy hell. http://failheap-challenge.com/showthread.php?5791-pre-fanfest-macro-purge/page2&s=78a4258887eeb7d8b651acbbf73c581a https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=868049#post868049 https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=868167#post868167 Some say botters are also paying for the game so they should not be penalized for what they do. Perhaps,
